Using car seat on an international flight for my toddler?

Im going from Sydney to Bali in October with my 17 month old son. My husband and mother in law will also be flying with us and im not sure whether to bring his car seat for the flight. Its a 6 hour direct flight and will cost us 75% of an adult fair if we bring his seat.

If we dont bring his seat its 10% of the adult fair and his considered a lap passenger.

Anyone who has done this got an idea on what I should do?

Update:

USAF - Im not sure he would stay there no lol thats why im considering it, for my sanity!

To the person above - the other passengers arnt really my priority. If his in his seat and the person in front reclines theres he will most likely kick it

Update 2:

Buddy - your right people are going to complain either way so i may as well do what suits me.

Update 3:

Bali people dont use car seats and dont have anchorage points.

Definitely bring the seat. You're lucky you don't have to purchase 100 percent of the cost of the ticket. 6 hours is a LONG time to have to chase him around and he'll be annoying to the other passengers. If he's strapped in for most of the trip, there's a good chance he'll either watch the movie or play quietly in his seat, as it'll be like a car ride. I would never fly without a seat for a toddler.

If there is a car seat available at your destination leave it behind and save money.

People on flights will complain if your child were to get away or just cry for being in a car seat for six hours.

Just make the flight as enjoyable for your child as you can and be kind to the nervous people on board.

Prepare your child in advance as to the natures of flight, hopefully you will get a window seat so they can see the ground, even at night you can see the lights that make up cities.

the two my daughter and my son have flown with there toddler young ones and on long flight too. A vehicle seat is the main suitable to hold as a bassinet is in basic terms too vast to hold approximately a flight. The airways does no longer permit you are trying this anyhow. the main suitable ingredient to do on an prolonged flight is to maintain your toddler unsleeping earlier the flight and in basic terms placed on him out via taking part in lots, letting him run around in the airport, and in basic terms conserving him lively. top earlier the flight, permit him eat a hardy meal too. in step with danger provide him a yogurt or ice cream or different milk sort snack. Diary products help you sleep so it particularly is the reason i elect to propose giving him a diary manage. opportunities are high quickly after boarding, he will fall top asleep in the motor vehicle seat. whilst he's unsleeping, take him for a walk down the isle, permit him shade in a coloring e book or examine to him. earlier you be conscious of it, the flight would be over.

Bring the seat. First of all, it's safer. You also don't want anyone to have to hold him for hours and I'm sure he won't like being held. He also will have somewhere to eat and sleep and you can give him some small toys to play with. Just let him get out and stretch every once in a while.

I wouldn't bring the seat, but I'm cheap and would hate to lug it around afterward. If there is a car seat in Bali he will use, then you won't need it when you are there... if not, you may need to bring it.

But, he probably will be fine on your lap (or someone's) because he will probably fall asleep.
