How will you celebrate all the Moms in your life this Mother’s Day?

I love scrap booking and my mom used to take pictures of my and my brother growing up so there are boxes of birthdays, parties, school events, and so on. So I have been spending months organizing photos and creating a special scrap book for her that I plan to present at brunch on mothers day. Now she can enjoy the pictures she took instead of letting them sit in boxes.

May I have a stab at this? Not a flying clue how I ended on this "Mothers Day Parade." I only wanted to know how to prononce the french word or words that means, a time warp, sureal, or a dream one may have had before, SHORT CIRCUIT LOL. I think It starts with a D,Dae, Deja. Sorry for the interuption....but now that I have short circuited,may as well give you my opinon of Mothers Day. I wish all Mothers, Fathers, Children, all Gods Little Creachers,..LOL a Yippie Kye Aye!!! Grab the Bull By the "HORNS".... Eat every piece of dark choclate u see and if u c them and don't tell me. I want care. I'll just jump on the next flight to Vegas for a few days and have champagne and Huge luscious sugar sweet juicy strawberrys dipped in chocolate,Having the time of My Life!! How about U? I have two sons, and I really do not get bent out of shape if they do not do anything for me. I may get a phone call, I do not expect a card.

There are 364 other days of the year that love and appreciation can be shown for the special woman in your life.

I wish you all a nice time with your moms, mums, mothers, But make sure it is not done out of obligation because the 'day' says it's the day to have hearts, flowers, love and goodness. It can be done anytime.

Have been planning this for months, having a entire family reunion & Bar B Q with a video being shown made from all of our family's past pictures, home movies & camcorder shots put together with music and some voice from the original shots. All the women there will receive a copy of the video, a plaque and a rose. We're having a huge Happy Mother's Day cake made and a toast given from different family members saying one specific occasion that made their Mom So Very Special. None of the Mom's & Wives know anything about this. Hoping it will be an occasion that the women in our lives will remember forever.

My mom's birthday falls on Mother's Day this year, and since we're both mom's, along with my sister and my fiance's mom and sisters, we are all going out to get pedis/manis, then to a movie, then to a relaxing dinner at a nice restaurant. We'll do gifts, cake, cards, all kinds of fun stuff (and the kids and significant others will all be at dinner). Then we plan on going back to my mom's for a bonfire and some drinks (wine, a couple of beers, nothing major). We're going to take a TON of pictures, and we're just going to make it a Mother's Day to remember. It might not be something huge or extreme, but it's something we will all enjoy. I'm buying my mom a spa day for her birthday/mothers day from my family, my fiance's mom is getting a full body massage from us, my sister is getting a weekend away from the kids so she can have her own time, and my fiance's sisters are all getting the same thing (plus gift cards for each one). I'm not sure yet what I'm getting, but knowing my fiance, it'll be something I'll love.

We usually take mom out for brunch but this past year mom went through chemo-radiation and is still taking something and getting blood transfusions (chemo turned her anemic) so her stamina is not great. Her appetite is also not great (plus we've already been to all the brunch places around this general area). So we're talking about doing a bbq--ribs, potato salad, cole slaw, fruit salad, whatever else people want to bring and hold it up at mom's house. It should be warm enough but the heat of summer hasn't come on yet. Mom love bbq ribs. And then when she or dad get tired, they can just go take a nap in their own beds. And we'll do all the work. We're already sending her and dad back east to visit family later this summer. They've both reached the point where they don't want gifts/things, and going out that entails dressing up is too much trouble. We kids are all great cooks and bakers so our family gatherings are amazing.

All the mums? I only have one.

And I do not really like one designated day a year to acknowledge her.

I myself am a mother too.

I feel it is a day which has been given way too much value and puts pressure on people to perform, just like valentines, easter, christmas, all the holidays ever devised. They are days created by man.

And if we have high expectations, bubbles get burst. I hate these kind of days. They need to be irradicated.

I sometimes forget and then scramble around and panic to find a card to send, then rush to the post office, because If I do not send a card, then someone gets disappointed and sarcastic remarks are made. And guilt trips are put on me. or they begin to feel crappy if someone asks them oh what did you get for mothers day, and they say nothing, and so the embarrassment for them ensues.

Tell me none of you aren't put on guilt trips if you do not live up to the expectation of others, if you haven't bought a card for your mother, or you don't make the phone call and then someone says something It is so much pressure and frankly we don't need it.

And what about those who have lost a loved one, have lost a mother, and there is all this hub bub over it. What about mothers who have lost children, and they do not have anyone to appreciate them.

This day sucks for them doesn't it?

My mother is gone for 5 years now, but I met this 86 year old lady in the senior citizen building and she does not have any children and very little family if any. So I am going to cook dinner and invite her over and give her some red roses. She is just a year older than my own mother. So this Mother's Day I will have her in my life and my home.
