What do you think of these guys?
What do you think of the two hockey guys Pierre McGuire and Don Cherry?
I personally think Pierre is a fool and he overreacts about dumb things. Also, he dislikes fighting and that is a negative.
I think Don Cherry is brilliant on the other hand. He tells hockey like it is and spares no feelings. I agree with most of his comments.
I would like to know what you guys think of these hockey analysts.
(I also play and watch alot of hockey so I actually know about the game for those people who would flame me.)

Pierre McGuire is a very smart man, but he makes himself sound STUPID. I truly can't stand listening to him.
LITY is right, sometimes he talks just to hear himself talk.
I will be honest. I Respect Don Cherry as a person SO much because he has helped me out earning money for Hockey Fights Cancer and has been a great contributor to that. I value his opinion but dont agree with it very often. Sometimes I like what he says, sometimes I don't. But it's cool that he's friends with the Hunters because I get a chance to chat with him at the Knights training camp.
I would listen to Cherry over McGuire ANY day.

Pierre McGuire doesn't dislike fighting, he's one of the strongest proponents of the removal of the instigator so that the role of fighting will be restored to what it was prior to 1977. Having said that, he's not one of my favourite people. I had the opportunity to work with Pierre while he was Penguin's scout and while he is extremely knowledgeable about the game (far more so than Cherry), he likes to talk just to hear himself talk. He was a lousy scout, a lousy coach, and still managed to get his name on the Cup twice!
I'm not a huge fan of Don Cherry either (and I've known him for almost 50 years and had a couple of on-ice tussles with him in the early 60s), he lost his relevance 20 years ago. Unlike McGuire, he at least has a great record as coach, but his methods of getting his rhetoric across failed miserably and his players tuned him out. A lot of people who used to play for him (Phil Esposito, Bobby Orr, and Gerry Cheevers among others) have all publicly stated that he should retire (Esposito going so far as to call Cherry an embarrassment to the game with his anti-nonCanada ideas). The only comments of Cherry I agree with is that we need to get back to old time hockey and let the players play instead of calling needless penalties and suspending players. Cherry needs to realize that Canada stopped being THE hockey power of the world in 1954, and that we've been joined by several other countries, all of whom have something to offer.

here's what i think about any "sports 'personalities' "...
form your own opinions. who cares what they think? is anyone losing sleep about what their neighbor thinks? so who made Cherry and Co the authoritative voice on anything? consider their opinions (just like everyone else's) but form your own.
people act so threatened by a strong (or vocal) opinion.

Both are donkeys and massive homers. Completely irrelevant. Occasionally the fools will get something obvious right and people think they have insight.
