I was wondering is a yeast raised donut considered bread or cake?

By whom?
By some I guess they would be but to me even most of the bread sold in the super market is not considered bread. It is made from refined flour instead of whole grains and it has all sorts of unhealthy stuff in it like HFCS and sometimes hydrogenated oils, preservatives, bromate and various other chemicals.
Not bread by my standards. A donut made with healthy ingredients would be better than most of the so-called bread on the shelves of the average super market. But if you are talking about the average donut which is also made with no better ingredients than cheap "bread" then no it ain't bread either it's junk food.
Bread does no have to be raised (or leavened) to be bread.
