Dog has constipation, what should I do?
So, I was told by the vet that I should give my dog only beef bones and I did and I gave him a huge roasted beef bone and he chewed the whole thing up and now he's now got constipation..
Is there any way to help him to relieve himself? I am very pissed as I bought that bone from Petsmart and the vet said it was okay but now he's eaten the whole thing and I don't know what to do..

Get him some fiber. The best is pumpkin out of a can (plain, not the seasoned pie filling). I've never fed mine too much at once (maybe 1/2 cup) so I don't know how much it will take, or how long, but it should help. Also my vet has recommended psyllium husks/seeds that humans use for the same reason.
I've never heard of such a thing (a vet recommending only feeding a beef bone?). Was it the real/plain white bone? And he ATE it (as opposed to chewing on it for days and days)? One of those lasts over a month before it starts getting chipped and I throw it away. My dog is 67lbs.
Good luck.

u can give him a tsp of veg oil or add it in his food and only give him bones for a treat and just small ones.dogs have to get use to any new treats or food and it can react this way.get him out walking or let him have a good run to get the bowels moving. if he still can not go feed him something fiberous like grape nut cereal or oatmeal and see how he does. if he is still bound up in a day or so call ur vet to make sure the bone is not stuck inside. good luck.

Feed a few tablespoons of canned pumpkin. It is fibrous and helps resolve constipation.

Try feeding him canned pumpkin. Make sure it is plain pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling. You can also visit your local pet store for mild natural laxatives.
