  • My husband always wants to get drunk, how do I control the situation?

We have been together for 3 years, married for one and I am very concerned about my husband. There are days when he is great, but most of the time, he comes home and has two to three beers a night, just to get buzzed and doesn't think it's a problem. When he drinks, he gets distant, and we always fight when I try to bring up the situation.

On the weekends, when his friends tell him that there's a party somewhere, or want to meet up for drinks, he will find some form of way to get blistering drunk and I constantly feel like I am having to babysit him. If it's not beer, it will be wine or whiskey and I am very concerned. His grandfather had alcoholic problems and he abused his grandmother. His sister just had a DUI, his mom keeps bottles of rum under the kitchen sink and his father swigs whiskey in the garage when nobody is looking. Is alcoholism running through his genes?

I hate being in this situation, I want him to have fun, but it just seems like he doesn't know how to control himself. Please advice. Thank you.

  • Do I go to a bridal shower?

This is a bridal shower for my fiance's cousin who is getting married in June in Hawaii. I was 'somewhat' invited to their wedding but we are not going. Just today I received a bridal shower invitation even though I am not attending her wedding. Should I be nice, buy her a gift and go to the shower?

  • Why do I eat lots of butter when I'm sick?

I crave butter whenever I fall sick, particularly with a cold. I will slab thick amounts of butter on bread and eat it constantly. I don't crave anything else except that. I don't eat this on a regular basis and I try to stop myself at two slices when I'm sick but it's quite strange. Does anyone else do the same thing?

  • What do I wear for this wedding?

We are attending a wedding next month at a hotel/casino and I am at a loss at what to get for a dress. The wedding invitation did not state the dress code but I assume it is for dinner as it begins at 4pm. What should I wear for the wedding anyway? I don't want to over-dress or under-dress. I also don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money. I am petite and buy junior dresses, so if you have websites that you know of with a good dress, let me know. Thank you so much, your answers will be very helpful.

  • Just ate shrimp, breaking out in hives..?

I've never been allergic to shrimp or any seafood or shellfish but I am breaking out like crazy right now.. My face is swollen and it's itching and so is certain spots on my body.. I don't have any allergy medicine in my cabinet except Claritin and Nyquil.. Can any of these help me or do I have to run to the store?

  • Do I have every right to be upset?

I have been in a relationship for almost a year and I am happy being with my boyfriend. Like every couple, we have our ups and downs and I admit that we're not perfect but I absolutely love him for everything we have gone through.

About a month ago, his ex-girlfriend called him and emailed him a letter in which she said she was upset he had moved on so quickly with me and that he did not tell her and that she had been hoping they would get back together. We laughed at this and brushed it off because it had been almost a year.

However, after that email, it seems like she has been trying to get his attention again by calling him and posting messages on his facebook. One is fine, but three is a crowd and I am getting rather upset and very annoyed at this happening over and over. I talked to my boyfriend and I told him I am annoyed and that I don't want to see this happen ever again. I don't allow my ex boyfriends to parade themselves on my facebook and neither should he..

Am I right to have voiced my opinion over this? Should I have ever right to be upset? Or should I have let this go by because he never responds to her?

  • Cleaning help! Using vinegar and water but hate the smell..?

I am moving towards using greener cleaning products as well as to save money and I am wondering of ways to get rid of the smell of vinegar. I know it doesn't linger very long but I would love some suggestions on how to make it smell nicer. I've been told about adding some drops of lavender oils or citrus oils while I'm cleaning but wouldn't that leave oil spots on my cleaning area? Please advice. Thank you.

  • On depo shot, what are the chances of being pregnant?

I have been on regular depo shots for over a year. I have never been late on my dates. I have not regular periods or spotting because of the depo shots. Just last month after my depo shot, I noticed that I have started to gain weight, about 6lbs but I think that could be contributed to stuffing my face during the holiday season.

I have also been getting more gas than usual and going to the bathroom a whole lot more (I am drinking a lot more water to flush my system since I was eating so much). I also feel bloated from time to time and sometimes sitting down or riding the bus makes me dizzy, not so much feeling like vomiting but just light-headed. And I've started getting more allergic to certain perfumes. I am waiting for my doctor's appointment tomorrow. Any guesses before I go?

  • Time for detox - What should I eat?

I've had a crazy holiday season, eating at so many parties. I want to go through a detox but I am trying to find a detox program that would let me cleanse without starving. No crazy vinegar only drinks or buying foot patches that don't work, I just want a real detox program that has worked for you. I am 5' and I weigh 96lbs, so I am not looking to lose weight, just cleanse. Thanks.

  • Am I being overly obsessive?

I just moved in with my boyfriend about three weeks ago (for financial reasons; he's going to school) and it has been a pretty interesting experience. This is only my second time, the first was a bad experience so I get pretty skeptical about relationships when you live with each other and not be married.

So, tomorrow is New Year's Day and we have barely had a date together since he's been going to school, juggles two jobs and I work early mornings as well, six days a week. The only time we ever have together are Sundays and nights are spent going to bed early. We have not had a movie together in over 3 months and neither have we gone out together on a Sat night alone for over a month. Sundays are tossed between sleeping in or hanging out with the extended family or watching football.

He called me a few minutes ago and told me that he was spending New Year's Day with a friend from LA. Why am I upset and annoyed that he decided to use this day to hang out with friends instead of spending time with me? Should I even have the right to be upset? How do I tell him I am upset without being overly obsessive? Should I just suck it in and tell myself that I will have the rest of my life to spend with him or do I let my feelings out?

  • What are the health benefits of olives?

I have always loved olives growing up and I think I eat about 2-3 cans of 2oz sliced black olives each week.. I know olive oil is supposed to be good for health but what are the benefits of eating pure black olives? There isn't anything written on the can except that it is high in fat and has only 25calories.. Anyone know if they're any good at all?

  • Is it still good to use a bottle of minced garlic left out?

So I opened a bottle of minced garlic I bought from the store and left it out for a night before I read the bottle that said refrigerate after opening. The lid was closed and I've left fresh minced garlic out before but it usually just dries out. I know regular garlic can be left out but is there something in the bottle that I should be worried about?

  • I'm visiting my future in-laws for the first time, what do I bring?

I know it may seem old-fashioned and it seems like nobody brings presents or gifts anymore while visiting, but I've never been to someone's house without bringing a bottle of wine or some gifts. I'm visiting my future in-laws for the first time, what do I bring? I don't really know them and I don't want to give them wine as my fiance says his mom is trying to cut back, so other than flowers, what's a good gift?

  • Baked mac and cheese recipe?

So, I don't like using a roux in my mac and cheese because it gives it a funny flavor, so instead, I use cream and cornstarch to thicken it.. I love a lot of cheese, extra sharp cheddar and parmesan (usually) and it usually becomes an extremely thick consistency..

When I mix the macaroni in the sauce, it coats it nicely.. And then I'd put it in the oven for 10-15 minutes to brown the breadcrumbs on top and by the end of it, I've realized the mac and cheese becomes dry.. They don't clump together which makes it light, but I want that gooey cheesy feeling.. Am I doing something wrong?

  • So I've been dating this guy exclusively for a while..?

And we're just learning to get to know each other.. I have so much fun with him, he makes me laugh and relaxed and is a guy I could see myself being with for a long time..

Everything was going great but just today, he said that he was applying for a job in California. We live in Seattle, which means if he got the job he'd be moving 2 states away. I have very strong feelings for him and I do want him to be happy and successful but at the same time I don't know how to feel about this.

He said he wouldn't be moving till maybe next year and he asked me to move with him if he got the job and I am flabbergasted. Does this mean that we're officially together because he's never asked me to be his girlfriend but he's asking me to move down with him?

He's always made hints that we're more than just friends and he always says things like saying "I'm so happy that you're here with me", etc.

I know this guy really likes me and I've never lived with a guy, so I'm just asking for some advice on how I should proceed with this.. No crap please, just light hearted advice.. Thank you!

  • Inflammation of elbow joint?

My partner and I have been training at the gym recently and he's been on the extra protein shakes and caffeine energy boosters whereas I have not and just today his elbow joint started hurting and swelling up.

It's not the whole arm but just the elbow.. He doesn't feel any pain when raising his arms into the air, but feels it when he tries to stretch his arm forward.. We've made an appointment to go see the doctor but I'm suspecting it's something from all those protein shakes and caffeine boosters he's had..

    Anyone have similar problems?
