is it wrong to value a dogs life over a humans?

say my dog was caught in a fire in an apartment with a stranger I dont know. i have one thing to rescue and i rescue my dog rather than the stranger? is this really wrong? i love my dog more than people it seems. humans are the worst species on earth. the things we do to each other and on top of that we kill many animals yearly for "sport" is it wrong to think your dog is more important than a humans life? dogs to me are innocent beings while humans cause so many tragedies in our world. what do u think?

Well I know alot of people who would choose to save their own dog over a complete stranger, mainly because there are emotional ties between the person and the animal. It's not wrong to want to save something you are more emotionally connected to, though alot of people would argue otherwise.

The whole topic changes however, if you were talking about any random dog verses a human being. If you were to save a dog's life over a person, It would be pretty wrong considering the fact you would be saving it for the fact that it was a dog and the fact you think 'humans are the worst species on earth'. Not everyone is horrible, and you have to remember here that you are also human.

You also have to take it into consideration that dogs don't live longer than humans, and although the dog may be missed by it's owners, the human's family, spouses, and loved ones would be affected for the rest of their lives.

Your whole option would also change if the human being was either a complete saint or a criminal. Personally, if the person was a child rapist, I'd probably save the dog over the human. If the person was president Obama or the pope, I'd save the man over the dog.

In your case though, with the dog being your dog and the human being just a random stranger, I see nothing wrong or 'evil' in choosing your dog over a human being. Pets, after all, are a part of the family.

OMG! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! I would without hesitation save the human. You are generalizing the human race to a ridiculous extent! Not everybody is evil, not everybody hunts, and you have no idea what kind of person is in that building. For all you know, that person could have been some avid animal rights activist that could have saved the lives of hundreds of dogs or other creatures, if you had saved them. :D you never know

I do agree that humans are the most harmful, evil, and selfish creatures on the planet, but I also firmly believe that humans are the most loving, productive, and compassionate beings as well. Humans have done great good despite the vile things that have also taken place. What if the person in that building was a mother, who's death would have ruined the lives of her children? (and their dog too!) I love dogs, but they are far less valuable than a human life which has much greater potential.

Dogs kill people too! I think that it's evil to choose a dog's life over a human being with a family and friends and a soul! There was this rap song that said something kinda like this. Sarcastically is said, "and it's a damn shame what they did to Michael Vicks, you can't kill dogs in your own backyard but you can go to Iraq and kill whoever you want". We really are the worst animals, and then get all hypocritical about it.

I wouldn't even hesitate, my dog before everybody. I would grab my Air Jordan's before I grabbed a human in a fire. Then again you could always get another dog. I mean they are all over the place and they are even free sometimes but if you saved a human you would be called a hero even though you don't even care about the guy you saved or the species. I think your reasoning is totally reasonable.

SAVE THE HUMAN because the newspaper will say u chose a dog over a human if u dont and plus the stranger might give u a reward. the stranger could also hold the dog while u saved the stranger. i love animals alot but save who u want. god created us the way he thought we should be and not deformed so do what you think u should do and either way, ur still saving a life.......

No it's not wrong at all cause the human can save themselves a animal really can't and needs a humans help more then a another human. A pet doesn't really know what to do in a situation like that. But what your comparing the situation to is kinda messed up cause the certain human that you don't save didn't do those bad things to other animals.

I would save my dog over the stranger because your dog will be loyal until it passes the stranger wont though it isnt a bad thing to trust humans as well. Hunters(like myself) hunt animals for sport because it is a hobby and without it they would become overpopulated. For example the deer would eat everything from eye level and down thus leaving nothing for the smaller species.

Dogs have souls too! Save the dog!

I would never go to a heaven that didn't allow some of my best animal friends in, or any at that matter! Why would they give their world to us if they didn't have souls to love someone?

    Yes it is wrong.

But it is easy for me to say that since I don't feel the love you have in your heart for your dog, nor do I have all the warm memories of time spent with your dog.

So even if I think it is wrong I understand how and why you feel that way.
