That's just a light the car maker puts in there to make sure you get the oil changed. It is based off miles you have driven and needs to be reset by the person doing your oil changes.
Note - this light is different than the "Check Engine" light or malfunction indicator light (MIL) and does mean your car is in mortal peril. Taking it to a part store that scans your car for you or taking it to a garage and paying them $70 is not needed.

This could be many things, the best thing you should do is take it in to the mechanics and they will run a diagnostics test telling why the light came on and the potential problems. It sounds like you could be low on power steering fluid and maybe an oil change. There are many different things that could be wrong but im sure its something minor.

Take it to the shop ASAP! That light means something is not right with the engine. It could be small or it could be big. When you take it in the technician will "read" the code that is produced and be able to tell you what is wrong. If you haven't noticed anything unusual with the vehicle yet then it is probably minor.
* You can also take your car to Auto-zone and use their code reader for free, copy the number down, go home and research it. Maybe you can fix it on your own for free or you'll know what is wrong before you bring it to the shop so you won't be scammed.

An oil change and a tune-up. Get it fixed as soon as you can before you cause engine damage.
