Inner Wrist Tattoo Opinions ?
Okay i am 15 years old and i plan on getting a tat -please dont lecture about covering it up or anything because its going to be really small and pretty nothing distracting-. Anyways I really would like to know what kind of pain it is {tickling, uncomfortable, unbearable, tolerance, on a scale of 1-10). I also want ideas. I wanted my name in Chinese but i want to start of with something smaller. Like an outlined star with no shading. HELP PLEASE !
Thanx everyone !
All of your ideas helped so much from the tatto design to the pain .
I will be sure to listen to some music while i qet this art .
Also I thought of getting a pisces symbol wih stars .

Trying to explain pain to someone is always difficult - pain is different for everyone. My wife has given birth to three children - I would have died. She has gotten a few tats and it was all she could to keep from screaming - I do not think that getting a tattoo hurts that much. So pain is different for everyone. To me the pain is similar to getting burned. Have you ever reached into the oven to get something out and touched your wrist to the hot oven rack? If so how bad did it hurt? Compare that pain to the tat. It should not last as long as the burn - the pain that is.
Think about your tattoo - especially your first one - really hard. If your into stars or they mean something special to you that will always be as special your whole life - maybe it reminds you of Grandma (along that line of special not a pop star or current boyfriend) - then go for it. Are you a re Christian? Maybe a nice small cross would be better than a star. Maybe your astrological sign (symbol not word). You can search sites like www.JohnnyTattoo.com for ideas. Maybe draw - or have someone else - draw the tat where you are thinking of placing it. Wear it for a week or two and see if you actually even like having it there - try different ideas. Try color and black/grey.
When putting a tat in that open of a place I always think for several days about all the details. I own a business so I have to be careful about what I expose to the rest of the world - appearance is way more important that I would have ever dreamed possible when I was 15.
I am not lecturing you - I have a teenage daughter (she is 13) - I know you are going to do what you want no matter what anyone says - especially some stranger. I just encourage you to think for several weeks before doing something so permenant.
This is to address the answer posted just prior to mine - If the artist does not take out a new needle from a sealed package get out the chair and leave that shop immediately. Call the local health department. Needles are NEVER to be shared. The barels and guides can be sterilized - in an autoclave of some sort - but the needles should be new for every customer.

I got a mildly intricate tattoo on my inner wrist, and it barely hurt. There were parts, yes, where I had to focus my attention on something else to distract from the pain, but really it wasn't that bad.
Chest tattoos hurt much worse, and also the elbow.
The best I can describe the pain as is cat scratches. Burns a little, cuts a little... but because of the vibrations from the needle, and the endorphins your brain will be releasing, it's easy to handle.
Personally, I actually love the sensation of being tattooed. It's incredibly enjoyable and you get lifelong art out of it.

The hardest tattoos to get are over hard parts of your body. I mean, thigh is easy because you have all that meat there. A scalp tattoo is much harder. It is like fingernails over your skin, very hard, and over and over again. Almost to the point of causing your skin to have an allergic reaction depending on how prone you are to that. (Hives, I mean.) Guys have an easier time initially because they have literally thicker skin. Girls tend to have a higher pain tolerance though, and girls are better at waiting out the initial discomfort until the endorphins (like when you jog, those endorphins) kick in. Once that happens it starts to feel good. So...initially around a 6 scaling up to an 8 with 10 being unbearable - like somebody holding a lighter to your feet. Make sure you like the tattoo artist. Don't get some jerk or somebody you don't trust. Ask how often they heat the needles. The answer should be, "After every customer." You don't want hepatitis! Also, if they don't tell you about after care be sure to look up that information online. (and if they don't tell you, and aren't nice, never go there again.)

I think Mike E has said it all... It does not hurt that much, it is very bearable, otherwise you would not have sooo many people with tats... But when you choose what tat you want and where, keep in mind that you will still have it when you are 30, and 40, and how will it look and what will people think of you with that tat when you are over 60 ?
Once you have answered all, go for it !! I have 6 tats, did the first when I was 17, am over 40 now and have never regretted any of them. But have always carefully chosen the location...

Well that's a good question although i dont have a tatoo either i also want i'm 17 so i kno exactly what your talkin about with the lectures and stuff. I think it is a good to start small and get something you know you would like for example a heart, flower, or star. and a good place is on the inside of your hand it probably will hurt but at least its small and easy to cover in case you get in trouble.

for it being on the wrist, its surprisingly NOT painful. granted, there will always be an uncomfortable sensation when getting it done, but its nothing you can't keep under control especially if its a small one. i have a heart i designed and i too opted for just an outline.
keep it small you don't want it to overpower such a small area. think of shapes & objects you like and go from there.
