Whoa. One Question at a time. I reckon you need more points.
All of those are good questions. I will just answer the one about the Media running the country. The People vote, so on paper it is still "We, the People" running things. That's why we have freedom of the press. It educates the voters.
But here's where it gets interesting. Through out most of America's history there were hundreds of independent newspapers that wrote about whatever they felt like. Sure, many of them were biased, some were even proud of it, and openly declared their party loyalty. But the point is there were many voices.
Today, nearly everything you can read, watch or listen to is produced a handful of multinational corporations. Let's say for the purpose of argument that they are unbiased in how they report. What about all the things they decide aren't news? Simply by reporting something mass media creates an issue, simply by not covering something they suppress it.
Even if those huge media companies are not all in on a massive conspiracy to manipulate the public. The voters do not get to hear as many ideas as they used to, and political discourse suffers.
Star for you. Hope to see more stuff from you in the future.

There is no party that tells the whole truth. At least no party that ever won an election. The media doesn't run the country, the government does. The media has influence but they are not the only entity with influence.
