Repoing a car in a locked Self Storage facility?

I am a Manager at a Self storage facility in California ..I have a woman who claims she works for a lawyer calling me and asking if I have a "Tom Smith" here as a customer. I told her I don't give out any Information on my customers over the phone that I would need a search warrant to give her info on any customer her. She told me she knows the car is here in a locked storage.

I told the lady I don't know what or who she is talking about and I wont until I see a warrant for the "Tom Smith" before I even look for that customer in my files.I also told the repo lady that I would need a exact name and storage unit number on the warrant.

Can they come on my Self Storage facility and cut a lock to a storage unit to take the car if it is here ? or is that Breach of peace.

Do I have to give them info over the phone when I have no clue who they really are ? Or do I have the right to protect my customers rights to privacy.

They need a subpoena for your records, a search warrant for the storage unit, a writ of possession for the car and probable cause to get them. Until then, a Sgt. Schultz imitation is in order.

That would be theft, they can not come on your property without permission, and breaking a lot would be breach of peace. If they attempted this I would call the police.

If they come with a warrent then you have to let them do it.

You may want to call the owner of the storage unit if you know who it is just to give them a heads up.

Don't tell them squat. Make them give you a search warrant. But they cannot remove a vehicle from a locked facilty. Even if the car is locked in their garage at home, they can't do it.

you need to hunt for suggestion from legal help on the regulations of Texas, yet oftentimes you're allowed to sell storage assets for failure to pay lease. you're allowed to get admission to the storage unit as landlord and sell the valuables after advertising it in a legal word.

Without a warrant and the sheriff standing there you don't need to tell them anything
