Christians? Do you actually believe people can "Live" this long?

Genesis Chapter 5 Verses 4,8,11,14,17,20,23,27,31,32

5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were 800 years: and he begat sons and daughters:

5:8 And all the days of Seth were 912 years: and he died.

5:11 And all the days of Enos were 905 years: and he died.

5:14 And all the days of Cainan were 910 years: and he died.

5:17 And all the days of Mahalaleel were 895 years: and he died.

5:20 And all the days of Jared were 962: and he died.

5:23 And all the days of Enoch were 365:

5:25 And Methuselah lived an 187, and begat Lamech.

5:27 And all the days of Methuselah were 969 years: and he died.

5:31 And all the days of Lamech were 777 years: and he died.

5:32 And Noah was 500 years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Why don't people today live nearly 1000 years? These verses is just ABSURD!. And not to mention verses 27 this guy "Methuselah" lived 969 years this guy should be in the "Guinness World Records" as a matter of fact all of them should be. But unfortunately it's just "Fiction".

Update:

@ greenman84

LOL ... this is just one of these questions i ask to see a response of the people who tell me that it's true.

Absolutely not. Humans back then lived SHORTER than they do now for a myriad of reasons!

And why are the Christians so ready to accept that years were shorter back then (one person even mentioned their difference in calender) yet stand vehemently by the fact that the Earth was created in six LITERAL days?! Isn't that a double standard?! If one is different, perhaps the OTHER is different?! Besides, God would have no concept of a "day." (and WHICH day was God using? A day on Earth is 24hrs, a day on Venus is 243 Earth days! Perhaps a day in Heaven is a million Earth years?)

    And to whoever posted this:

three score and ten, (70 years) to live it up, (Psalm 90 :10,)

Fail. Scores were not used to measure days back then. In fact, a "score" is almost entirely unique to English.

    babyface:

wtf does global warming have to do with life expectancy? On top of that "global warming" (in the context of which you speak, due to pollution) is an entirely new concept (within the last century.) This does not account for the millennia prior.

    nvrgvup:

you just sound unfathomably ignorant. No rain before the flood?! So how did plants grow? Without plants, no animals to eat the plants. Without plants, no wood for Noah to build his precious ark! Dew does not provide enough hydration for a tree clown. That might work for flowers and shrubbery but not coniferous trees (fail.) Furthermore, there was no "water canopy" (I believe the word you are looking for is firmament) as there would be ample geological evidence. That much water in the sky would also mean that the world would be cast in darkness (water is not clear in that much quantity--ever seen the bottom of the ocean or even the deep end of a swimming pool?) meaning DEFINITELY no plants would have grown.

And what scientists agree that an asteroid created the Pacific? How bout plate tectonics (millions of years ago there was Pangaea. As it broke up and the continents separated it created the Pacific.)

No seasons means no deciduous plants...a further fail on your behalf because those plants provide most animal life with sustenance (apples come from deciduous trees; pine cones from conifers--ever ate a pine cone?)

With that said, our 4000yr old trees simply would not have had a chance to begin life in the first place. That would also mean that 4000yr old trees are essentially all first generation--fail.

In closing, a human that lived 1000yrs would have a lifespan equivalent to 1/6th that of the Earth's (because in your blind ignorance the Earth is only 6000yrs old). Fail.

Yes, for sure. It's the Greenhouse effect . . .the good one.

Before the flood, there was no rain, (Genesis 2: 5-6)

That's why they taunted Noah, flood? What's that?

Dew watered the plants, and there were springs which brought water up from the water table.

The earth had a water canopy surrounding it, making it a like a greenhouse, ideal conditions for healthy food, pure oxygen and the conditions that led to a long life.

Mind you, God also wanted mankind to populate, so the longer they lived, the more little Hebrews abounded.

The Flood was more than a long spell of rain.

The water springs "exploded", there was volcanic activity, lightning, earthquakes causing the earth to change topography, and a gigantic asteroid punched through the earth's atmosphere causing the canopy surrounding the earh to collapse inward, making our great , deep oceans.

It is believed that the impact of this astereoid on the earth made the Pacific Basin.

Scientists agree that an asteroid struck the earth and it was knocked off axis by a few degrees, from a perfect orbit, to the angle which now gives us our four seasons, which were not in place then.

So, yes, mankind did live that long then, not surprising, there are still some trees that are 4000 years old from that period in time.

But, here's the unsettling news, because of this climatic change, we are told we have three score and ten, (70 years) to live it up, (Psalm 90 :10,) and I guess if we can extend that by not smoking, not binge drinking, and do the best we can to copy the conditions that existed way back then, we are fortunate.

    Here endeth the sermon.

    All the best. Nvrgvup.

I do not want to live that long, if I live through the next 1,000 years old, the Earth would be boring as hell

I remember that someone argued that the "water canopy" was so much greater back then because of the Great Flood. And that SOMEHOW managed to make people live for hundreds of years.

    I know. Crazy, right?

Maybe you should go back to science class!

    lol people

    ever heard of artificial insemination?

If you dont think a virgin birth is possible then you really do need to go back to science class.
