Is watching pornography really that bad?

its a healthy human thing. if you're in a relationship it keeps your mind open to new sexual positions and gives you ideas for spicing up things in the bedroom. it's also healthy to masturbate, its keeps you in touch with your own body...if you enjoy it there is no harm in it, as long as it doesnt become an unhealthy addiction...or if you prefer it to sex with your partner, then its bad....

I am a Christian, but I had a "Love/Hate" relationship with porn for over 30 years. Now I am free of it, but that's another story.

I still love the sight of a woman's unclothed body. In my opinion, it's the most beautiful thing God made on this planet (and likely anywhere in the universe!).

But I hate porn, because it tells lies about a woman's body:

* - It tells us that that's what "real" women look like. They don't.

* - It tells us that seeing a nude woman is always a sexual turn-on. It's not supposed to be... that's just Pavlovian conditioned response (Doctors seem to be free of it, right?).

* - It tells us that the most important quality a woman has is her physical sexual appeal. It's not.

* - It tells us that men naturally objectify women for selfish indulgence. Selfishness may indeed be "natural," but it's certainly nothing to condone or promote.

I don't believe God ever intended for men to treat the sight of a woman's body as a sexual experience. It can be an aesthetic experience to be sure, because it is so beautiful and attractive, but to reduce a woman's nude form to only being a sexual object is to miss its real and full beauty.

To answer your question directly... For these and other reasons, I consider pornography bad.

Just look at it this way.

This is something that people try to cover up. They hide it from other people, they deny it, and they lie about it. Doesn't this suggest that it is not one of the finer things in life?

if its got any sort of animal involved, then yes. otherwise its generally accepted by the secular community. just don't ask your priest that question.
