Driver for keyboard ??????

I recently formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows XP and all the drivers.

Everything is fine except 2-3 keyboard buttons are not working (@ and \ keys are not coming). It is due to wrong/missing driver or some other setting is there?

Do laptops need key board drivers? I installed all the drivers I had in the bundle.

Any ideas what it could be for Compaq C794wu? (XP)

Update:

I mean, the keys are working but the output of the keys are different. So, the keys are not broken.

There is no driver for your keyboard. Your keyboard keys are broken.

I usually go back over my answers and see that you added details. You need to open control panel and regional settings. You have the wrong keyboard layout, possibly the U.K. layout. You need to change it to the U.S. layout.

key board drivers are in-built in every operating system. imagine if there were add-on drivers for keyboard then how you'd install the os without the drivers pre-installed.

now what your problem is the same as mine. i'd XP PRO. i choose repair option after inserting the XP CD. that's it. i got back all functionality. BEFORE YOU USE REPAIR OPTION YOU'D LEARN ABOUT IT. OTHERWISE YOU'D SCREWED UP. BEST WAY GOOGLE the repair procedure or search in apcmag.com

RE-INSTALL XP GIVE SAME RESULT. SO LEARN IT FIRST.

maybe, just maybe using a brush to clean up the dust under the key would help out.
