How far does Oddie travel?
Oddie is tied to a pole in the backyard by a 15 foot rope. Oddie quickly gets bored and runs around in a circle. As he does so, the rope wraps around the pole at a rate of 4 inches per rotation. How far can Oddie travel in this fashion before the rope is completely wrapped around the pole?
I am looking for an answer in terms of the distance he travels. How many times he circles around the pole is easy: 45. I'm asking for how many feet worth of distance Oddie can run.

Ok. This is a little harder. First you have to find out the circumference of the circle Oddie is making. The formula is the diameter times pi (abbreviated 3.1415). Each time Oddie circles he loses 4 inches of rope, right? So you need to find the circumference of the first circle and subtract 4 inches for each circle and add it up.
