Arguments against Global Warming?
Hey, I need some arguments against global warming, or like statements to prove it wrong.
hey i dont really think that global warming isnt happening, i just signed up for a 'Great Debate" club and global warming is the subject and I'm on the "Against" team.

Be happy, you got the easy side. The "For" side has no real scientific facts to back up their position.
There is currently no evidence that man has made any significant contribution to climate change.
Some interesting facts.
1. During most of the past 2,000 years, the temp has been about the same or higher. Currently, we are barely over the average for the last 2,000 years.

2. During the medieval warm period (820 – 1040 AD), Greenland supported farming. The Vikings settled in this land. They remained on Greenland until the climate again cooled and the expanding ice sheets forced them out. This would suggest that not only is the current glacial melt not catastrophic, but part of the natural cycle.
3. The earth experienced a little ice age which ended around the late 1860's or so. This is about the time man started recording temperatures. This would be like measuring a lake depth after a severe drought, then worrying about it flooding as it rose to normal levels.
4. The earth has been warming for the last 18,000 years, since the last major glacier time period. During this time frame, the glaciers have been melting at a fairly consistent rate. Also, for most of the last 1 billion years, the earth had NO glaciers or ice coverage.

5. The AGW theory states that CO2 is the primary driver of temperature. They arrived at this idea because they did not know of anything else which could cause it. But during the 70's and during the current decade, temperatures dropped while CO2 continued to rise. This means that natural occurrences are driving temp, not CO2.
6. The Pacific Decadal Oscillation and sun spots provides a much better correlation to earths' temperature than CO2 levels ever have.

7. Polar Bears are experiencing a population boom. Coke sales in the arctics are through the roof. Polar Bears have been around for thousands of years, and remember, we are only at the average for the last 2,000 years. They lived through all the previously warmer climates. The original picture of 2 bears on a floating ice block was a complete scam. The photographer explained that the bears were in no danger and close to shore. The picture was lifted from a public PC by another passenger and sent around the world.
8. Many glaciers are expanding. Even Antarctica is growing on 98% of is land mass. Only 2% is melting.

9. There is no consensus on AGW. This was a lie that has been propagated by the media.

10. Yes we emit CO2 into the atmosphere and it is a greenhouse gas, but, we only contribute about .28% of all the greenhouse effect. Water vapor makes up about 95% of the greenhouse effect. CO2 and other trace gases round out the greenhouse gases at about 5% for all of them. Of that 5%, only 3% is CO2, and most of that is natural. Again, our contribution to the greenhouse effect is a paltry .28%

11. The spread of disease is not attributed mainly to temperature. If this were the case, Florida would be a giant festering disease ridden cesspool. Economic standing is the primary determining factor in the spread of disease. Poor cultures can not fight the disease or eradicate the pests like more successful nations.

12. Natural climate disasters (hurricanes, cyclones, etc) have never been scientifically linked to global warming (whether natural or man made).

You know that it is funny that around 60 years ago people were very scared at how hot it was on Earth. Then, durring the industrial revolution when we were just blasting CO2 into the atmosphere, a funny thing happened. The Earth got colder... A lot colder! There was a big public fear in the 70's that we were headed to another ice age. Then what happened? It got warmer, a lot warmer. In 1998 it peaked. The temperature of the Earth had risen an average of 2 degrees. Then what happened? It has been getting colder for the past ten years. This winter 27 United States cities reported the coldest winter in over a decade. Sydney Australia normally has a summer sometimes up to 103 degrees. Their summer this year was only 87 degrees. There is one million square miles of more ice in Antartica than ever before. 31,000 Scientists say global warming is a farse and the opposite is going on. Our Sun has been silent with solar activity for the past three years which is not normal. These things happen in cycles. In the end of the 1700's we had what is called the little ice age where the Earth cooled and the Sun took a little nap. This will happen over and over again. The reason everyone is in such a debate is because we are just becoming aware of this cycle. Come on? The big light bulb in the sky has a million times more influence over our environment than our automobiles. CO2 has always been on Earth and has nothing to do with Global Warming... That is when the Globe is Warming, but it is not I asure you! Cold Weather on the way!

Ask your opponents these questions.
How do we know whether it is better for the earth to be warmer or colder? More Food vs. Rising Sea Level.
If the use of fossil fuel is causing Global Warming, why did the sea level rise 395 feet during the past 12,000 years?
What level should CO2 be? More CO2 equals more vegetation.
What level has CO2 been during other geological periods of time.. Jurassic early Cretaceous?

Is the earth warming or cooling? Depends on which snap shot of temperature data one looks at. If solar cycles are 70,000 years in length, 150 years means virtually nothing.
Which greenpollutions is responsible for most global warming?
If polution is causing global warming, how come the polar ice caps on Mars have decreased in size at the same time that the polar ice caps on earth have decreased in size?
Why is it the change in global temperature correlates perfactly with the change in solar activity?
How do we really know what the temperature of the earth was in the past?

The biggest argument against global warming is simply that there's no compelling evidence for it, other than the lies that Gore and certain junk scientists are telling us...none of which make any sense or come even slightly close to reality. Their nonsense continues to astound us.

Are you saying that you are looking for arguments from people who do not like global warming?
- hevben982Lv 51 decade ago
The only solutions they have to combat global warming are to limit our freedom and take more of our money. I believe this is a scam designed to gain more control over our lives.
Check out the book, "Green Hell" by Steve Milloy, it has some good arguments against global warming.

It cannot be proven right or wrong. Only when it is too late will we know for sure.
Let's take a closer look at Prof. Lindzen:
...charges oil and coal interests $2,500 a day for his consulting services; his 1991 trip to testify before a Senate committee was paid for by Western Fuels and a speech he wrote, entitled Global Warming: the Origin and Nature of Alleged Scientific Consensus,[24] was underwritten by OPEC.
Lindzen has claimed that the risks of smoking, including passive smoking, may be overstated[29][30]. In 2001,[30] Newsweek journalist Fred Guterl reported, after an interview with Lindzen, "Lindzen clearly relishes the role of naysayer. He'll even expound on how weakly lung cancer is linked to cigarette smoking. He speaks in full, impeccably logical paragraphs, and he punctuates his measured cadences with thoughtful drags on a cigarette."[

Their vacuous arguments like we know until it is too late.
"Professor Lindzen comments that this failure of observation to match prediction cannot be so easily explained, since the transient response would be likely to exceed the equilibrium response. He concludes that no more than about a third of the observed trend at the surface is likely to be due to greenhouse warming, and adds: “This is about as close as one ever gets to proof in climate physics.”
On this analysis, “global warming” is unlikely to be dangerous and extremely unlikely to be catastrophic."
