    Desperate, hungry people who looked to FDR as some sort of christ-like savior. Only to watch all of his programs fail to lift the nation out of the depression.

    It wasn't until WWII that we got the umph needed to do that, and that was the result of the Japanese getting us into the war in the first place.

    Had there been no attack on Pearl Harbor, the English, French, Dutch, and a host of other nations in Europe and around the world would be speaking German and/or Japanese.

    Millions of desperate people because they were desperate. It was mainly window dressing and a diversionary tactic -- CCC, plowing under crops as price supports and other wierd stuff. Throw these bones to the press and they chew on it for awhile. Today Obama and Rahm has this absurd Swine flu thing pumped up on the mainstream "news" media.
