Is Traffic School Worth It? CA Resident?
I got my first speeding ticket ever recently, for going 70 in a 55 zone. The fine is $201 with the option to go to traffic school and pay $250. I've been told that since this is my first ticket and I don't have any points on my record, that traffic school really isn't necessary. How many points will I have on my record now? Will traffic school really save me that much money on my insurance?
Yes, it is my first ticket ever, in over 16 years of driving, except for a couple of fix-its a couple of years ago, but those don't count.

Not sure about the specific numbers or how much it will affect your insurance, but it's usually a good idea to just do it if it's an option.
Even if it doesn't save you much in insurance right now, if you don't do it and something else were to happen in the future, your insurance might go up a LOT due to the combination of the two offences.

Is this your only first ticket ever? If it is, then save your self some money and time. You don't necessarily need to go to traffic school. It doesn't affect your insurance much unless you have accumulated stacks of tickets and accidents. Points? If it is your first ticket ever, it's bare minimum. Keep driving, of course in the speed limit and drive safe!

Ft. Worth receives approximately 37 inches of rain per year, much of which is delivered in the spring. It has a humid subtropical climate, yet this part of Texas also tends to receive hot, dry winds from the north and west in the summer. In the winter, strong cold fronts from the north pass through Ft. Worth, plummeting temperatures well below freezing. The average annual snowfall in Ft. Worth is 2.5 inches, with snowfall seen six days out of the year and snow accumulation seen two days out of the year. Occasionally, warm and humid air from the south overrides cold, dry air, leading to freezing rain, which usually causes major disruptions in the city for a day or two if the roads and highways become dangerously slick. Regardless, winters are relatively mild. Spring and fall, and the moderate, pleasant temperatures accompanying these seasons, can sometimes be shorter-lived than residents would like. However, short the seasons are, residents and visitors appreciate the beauty of the vibrant wildflowers (such as the bluebonnet, Indian paintbrush and other flora) which bloom in spring and are planted around the highways throughout Texas. In the spring the weather can also be quite volatile and change quickly in a matter of minutes. The cliché about volatile climates popular in various parts of the US—"if you don't like the weather, wait a little while and it'll change"—applies well to Ft. Worth's spring weather. The sporadic volatility of the spring season is coupled with a very pleasant "normality"—barring storms, Ft. Worth in spring is very mild and enjoyable. Similarly, mid October and early November are very pleasant and are typically storm-free. In the spring, cool fronts moving from Canada collide with warm, humid air streaming in from the Gulf Coast. When these fronts meet over Ft.Worth, severe thunder storms are generated with spectacular lightning shows, occasional torrents of rain, hail, and, at times, tornadoes. The best schools and neighborhoods are outside the city. Keller, Crowley, Bedford, North Richland Hills and Fossil Creek are newly developed communities that offer all the amenities of Ft.Worth with less traffic. Arlington and Mansfield are halfway between Dallas and Ft.Worth and have some of the best schools in the area. Arlington is home to the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys in 2009. For 350,000 you will be amazed at the house you can buy. A custom built home between 3500 - 4000 square feet is well with in your reach. The job market in the DFW metroplex is thriving with several fortune 500 companies relocating here because of the lower cost of living. I have lived in the metroplex my entire life and could not think for a better place to call home.

yes it is worth it, i took it because of a ticket i got a few years ago and it keeps this off your driving record which reflects how much insurance you,ll be paying out,to me it was well worth the time and energy to do it,and i even learned a few new laws that i didn't know existed,so yes its worth it ,good luck.
