Dining recommendations for Atlanta?

Looking for something non-chain and regional cooking style. Also, just interesting places to eat in the greater Atlanta Area. From grease spoons to fancy, send me anything. I'm familiar w/Varsity--been there, but other than that, it is open...

Also, if anyone can give me dining recommends on Savannah or along the coast from Savannah to Jacksonville, Fl, that would be AWESOME. Again, same critera: regional, interesting, any price level, just tell me what the food is a bit like and why it is appealing. THANKS a bunch!!

Update:

What is so neat/cool/nice about that particular restaurant? And if you can tell me where it is (a street that I can google) that would be even more awesome.

Update 2:

So, far y'all have given me some really great leads. I can see that deciding on a best answer is going to be a bit difficult...

These are some of my favorites. I'll try to include the websites so you can see where they are.

    OK Cafe - http://www.okcafe.com/

This is sort of a 50s style dinner with a very good hamburgers and chicken fried steak, though I go mostly for the fried pickles. Not much is better than dipping some fried pickles in ranch!

    The Vortex - http://www.thevortexbarandgrill.com/

This is probably the best hamburger in Atlanta. I love it. My favorite is the Ragin' Cajun. It also has some great appetiziers. If you're kind of an uptight person though, I'd avoid it. The decorations and can be kind of crazy. But, that's why I love it.

    Savage Pizza - http://www.savagepizza.com/

This is my favorite pizza joint in Atlanta. It's awesome. It's in Little 5 Points and decorated with comic book stuff.

    Alfredo's - http://www.alfredositalianrestaurant.com/

This is my favorite "fancy" Italian restaurant in Atlanta.

    Bone's - http://www.bonesrestaurant.com/

This, along with Capitol Grill, is my favorite steak house in the city.

    Papi's Grill - http://www.papisgrill.com/

I love this place. It's cheap and the Cuban sandwich is friggin awesome!

I love the OK Cafe, They have great blue plate specials, shakes, and these jalapeno and cheesy grits fritters thingy, can't remember the name. Try a peanut butter and chocolate milk shake. It taste just like a Reese's cup.

I recently went to Pizza fusion, they have all kinds of veggie, organic pizza topping, gluten free/ whole wheat/ regular crust, organic salami and ham, blue cheese/ soy vegan cheeses. I enjoyed it though it cost $14-$24 for a two person pizza. I would avoid the steak topping, it's def not worth it. They also have a decent wine selection. Go after 7:30 to avoid too many families with kids.

There is a breakfast chain here called the Flying Biscuit. It's pretty good I would try it as it's not a fast food chain and not completely lacking in character.

If you want to try Korean style chinese food I love Yen Jing

    5302 Buford Hwy

    Doraville, GA 30340 ,

But I only like their Jam Pong, spicy and regular ja jiang mien, and kumpong gee (Chef's special chicken). I haven't tried anything else.

THere is also an awesome taiwanese Dumpling place called Chef Lou's. It's a little shack in the middle of a strip mall parking lot.

    Chef Liu

    5221 Buford Hwy NE

    Atlanta, GA 30340

Also Try Bhojanic for North Indian Food. There are a lot of North Indian food buffets but this is a sit down ala carte place.

OH and Figos!! What you should do it go to the Figo in Virginia Highlands for dinner and eat at Paolo's gelato for dessert. YUMMY!!! Figo's makes fresh pasta and fresh stuffed ravioli and its very cheap for fresh pata, $8- $9 for entrees.

Mary Mac's Tea Room has traditional Southern food and a plethora of artifacts in there, it is quite fun. Last time I was there Max Cleland was leaving.

There are several small restaurants that are quite good, for a greasy burger try Zestos. For a better burger with a very different atmosphere try the Vortex. It is funky in there, but if you are traveling with kids, they are not allowed as smoking is allowed in the bar. They do have a non smoking section.

Six Feet Under across from the Oakland Cemetery is delicious, it provides a fun rooftop terrace and delicious seafood. Try the seafood quesadilla, my favorite!

In Jacksonville, there is a subshop called Angie's. It is the best sub you will ever put in your mouth.

    Good luck!

I recommend Outback Steakhouse! Their food has a specific taste to it and it's got a "Down Under" theme so you can expect that they have Australian food there. It has a bar and you could either sit there or at a table or a booth. Their steaks are really good and their seafood and chicken are amazing as well. Also you get bread non-stop and you get non-stop drink refills also(excluding the bar drinks and beer)

    Here's Some In Atlanta:

3850 Roswell Rd Ne, Atlanta, GA

2145 Lavista Rd Ne, Atlanta, GA

3390 Peachtree Rd Ne, Ste 200, Atlanta, GA

There is also one on East-West Connector next to BJ's if you live closer to that street.

Go to the Marietta Diner, reasonable prices, huge and awesome portions.

I wish I could remember. There is an awesome barbecue place look online for the most famous places. Maybe it's One Star Ranch but I'm not sure that's the right one. There was a neat Korean place in Smyrna.

I like Murphy's in Virginia Highlands. It is a bit upscale and price range though. I love the Bonzo desert though! Whole Foods on West Paces has an excellent banquet style food that is real good and organic.

    In Savannah:

For a fun, cheap and tasty lunch try Cafe GelatOhhh! They serve yummy paninis (if a good sandwich artist makes them. I've been many many times and only had one mediocre sandwich) and great italian gelato in tons of flavors. It's located in City Market at Ellis Square. They have a website. It's www.gelatohhh.com.
