Discover the most interesting thing to the kid. Then use that as the medium of instruction. Say, devise a thing that will use the kid's favorite thing as the instructional tool.

For adding numbers...you could try using counters...or something he's interested in like matchbox cars....2 matchbox cars plus 2 matchbox cars make how many matchbox cars...etc...
Children, aged three to four years old have growing vocabularies, and they learn how to rhyme. In first grade children are taught how to blend letter sounds together to "sound out" words and memorize sight words. They begin reading simple sentences. So 4 years is a little young.
Knowing how to rhyme will help te child read word "families" such as let, met, pet, wet, and get. Notice that rhyming words have same sound endings but different beginning sounds. Some words don't look the same: ache, cake, steak but they rhyme. To teach your child how to rhyme, play games.
Begin by modeling how to rhyme. Point to parts of your body, say a rhyming word and the child should say the body part. This puts rhyming into his ears with a visual cue (pointing). If you point to your nose and say rose, he will automatically say nose.

Before adding, I would need to be certain that the child knows their numbers to 10, especially counting to 10. Always be positive and make it fun! Praise the child for every little thing they attempt. Be enthusiastic yourself. Tell the child how much you love to count! Tell them that you love numbers 'Numbers are fun!.
To read numbers I would start with 1 2 3 on cards and be explicit. Say to the child 'This number is called 1 (get them to repeat). This number is called 2 etc..'
To count.. again be explicit. Say.. 'I love to count. I'm going to count these teddies 1 2 3 (put your finger one to one as you count them) Can you count the teddies too?' You can do this with forks when you are setting the table too. Say 'We need 3 forks. I love to count forks! 1 2 3. Can you count forks?'
Again have the child count up to three items...fun kids items like lollies, small toys etc. The child needs to count one to one as the finger moves.
Then they can match the number on the card 1 2 3 with the number of items. Say explicitly 'I've got 2 teddies Look 1 2. Can you get 2 teddies? Which number here says 2?'
When they are good at 1 2 3 start with other numbers up to ten. When they are good at that, start ordering the numbers. When they are good at numbers to 10, start with teen numbers and be EXPLICIT.
To add, again use fun small items. Again be EXPLICIT. 'Mummy has 2 lollies. You have 3 lollies.' Count them to check. Say 'I wonder how many lollies we have together? Let's count them all' Lay them out clearly in groups and count them all one to one. When they get better do more.

Try giving the child toys and ask him/her to count the toys, you can take some away and then ask them to count again (make a game out of it).
For reading, again try to use objects that the child likes, for example, if he/she likes animals, use cards with animals on them for the child to read. If you keep them interested and make it fun, that is half the battle!

There are 2 considerable theories on a thank you to instruct analyzing: the full language attitude (memorizing internet site words) and the phonics attitude (getting to understand letter sounds and deciphering words). With the full language attitude, infants are taught to confirm by skill of memorizing words, getting to understand words by skill of following alongside to an grownup analyzing, and having their thoughts recorded for them to coach analyzing. With the phonics attitude, infants are taught what sounds each and every letter makes and the thank you to integrate sounds to make words and sound out words to confirm them. interior phonics, there are 6-syllable types (may well be discovered with the aid of googling '6 syllable types,' which teaches a thank you to % out which soun the letter makes while there is extra advantageous than one decision ). i in my opinion have faith that the phonics attitude is way less complicated and extra effective, particularly while introducing the 6 syllable types to the newborn. There are plenty extra words to memorize than regulations to examine and sounds to memorize. There are nonetheless going to be some sight words that isn't be able to be sounded out, besides the undeniable fact that it remains plenty much less artwork to examine regulations, sounds and memorize in basic terms some words. there is a good number of discover ways to show that the phonics attitude is extra advantageous, yet with any controversy, there is data that the full language attitude is extra advantageous. For some pupils, the full language attitude may well be extra advantageous, yet interior the learn I even have examine maximum pupils who're no longer interior the remarkable 25% of newcomers study suited with the phonics attitude (the remarkable 25% won't have difficulty the two way). The suffering newcomers want phonics to effectively study to confirm. Many suffering readers will additionally combination words up consistent with how they seem, case in point 'e book' and 'boot' are the two tall letter, short, short, tall, so a newborn who's memorizing based on the seem of the words will confuse many words (despite in the event that they are not dyslexic). this is consistent with analyzing I even have accomplished interior the previous and that i'm a believer interior the phonics attitude. old instructors tend to have been knowledgeable in the process the time of the 'entire language attitude.' It swings back and forth and genuine now it extremely is the phonics attitude this is being taught to maximum training majors.

Try candy. For example, use M&Ms and show a flashcard and say, "put this many M&Ms on the card." Do it with addition and everything, and when he gets it right, he gets to keep the candy.
