If someone today said that they had a conversation with god would you believe them?
This question is for religious people, but anyone should feel free to answer...
If your answer to this question is no, why do you believe that others in the past have had conversations with god? Is that not a contradiction?

No. It signifies advanced psychosis.
edit: Apparently some morons don't realize that there's a difference between "speaking" and "having a conversation." If God is talking back to you while you're praying, you are insane.

No, I wouldn't believe them right away just based on that. I would pray for God's discernment and decide if I believed them based upon their personality and character, the conversation they claimed to have (to know what the purpose of it was) and decide also on the Word of God (the Bible) to see if it all lines up. I would then pray about it and ask for God's discernment.
I know someone who has claimed to be conversing with God (Jesus specifically) and it was false. People are sometimes getting really far off and away from the Word and they can sometimes prophesy in their imagination or have experiences with a demon of light (that they think is God). It seems to be getting more and more common.
Good question!

My answer is no and nobody has ever had a conversation with any god(s). Anyone saying they have are either lying or deluded.
You can't make the assumption that if someone says no that they automatically believe others before have talked to god(s).
This is a really bad argument.

I wouldn't believe or disbelieve without knowing what the supposed conversation entailed. The Bible says to test everything and see if it's truly of God. So unless the chat contained ungodly or unbiblical stuff, I wouldn't have a problem believing it.

No, and I DON'T think others in the past have had conversation with deities.
I think people like that are pretty much talking to themselves.
Source(s): No contradictions here. - 1 decade ago
Most people don't have a clue so I wouldn't believe most people. However, God can and does talk to people.

No, I wouldn't believe them, and that isn't a contradiction because I think that they've all been delusional.

Yes, God is real - don't deny Him. I personally have a talk with him every day.
If you have any questions about God, please feel free to ask - and i'll try to answer.
