How to get rid of and prevent insects, flies and rodents from a house full of fruit trees?

I have many fruit trees on my property and have a lot of spiders, flies and insects in and around my house. Outside there are always possums during the peach season and it scares me because my dogs kill them and I don't want them catching a disease from those disgusting rodents. Does anyone know a good way to get rid of all of these besides moving or cutting the trees down? I am only renting and if I had my way, they would never be there to begin with. I suck at gardening and I am really paranoid about bugs.
