Are the democrats complaining yet about Arlen Spectors age?
John McCain was way too old and Arlen Specter is 6 years older. So how are they accepting this 79 year old man?
I see your double standard. LOL
William F - please stick to the question asked.

His age won't matter as long as they can use him for propaganda

Arlen Specter is a *Senator* There are 100 Senators, and none of them have critical national security functions. If Specter drops dead tomorrow, the Governor of Pennsylvania will appoint a successor until a special election can be held.
Senators work a four-day work week. Presidents are on-call 24/7. Senators do not experience a tenth of the stress a President deals with.
Understand the difference?

Seems like a non-issue since Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) was born when Teddy Roosevelt was president (and I'm not really exaggerating that much, either). Last time I heard, Byrd was about 98 years old and had NO intention of leaving office!
Perhaps Americans should consider how wrong and dangerous it is to allow career politicians to hold office "for life". It's not just a term limits issue but the fact that politicians have rigged the system so that an incumbent is safe from being voted out.

I reckon Mr. Specter should be remembered in history as a gallant man, to assume the role as a mole, planted by the Republicans in the Democrat Senate, to try and save our nation. I almost know, if he is not wondering if the pain is worth the gain. I was thinking most of the Senators are pretty old also, so maybe they won't complain.

Spector isn't trying to lead the nation, just his own particular post in Pennsylvania. If Spector was unable to perform his duties or passed away, a new senator would be appointed by a rational Governor.....whereas, you were offering up Palin if McCain was unable to perform his duties or passed away. Clearly, you can see the difference.
