2004 Silverado 2WD 4.8L Universal Joints.?
I blew a center universal joint on my truck. It's up on jack stands and i'm looking at the center joint. It doesn't look familiar. There is no snap ring on the bearing collar to hold the u-Joint in place. There are some weird fiberglass-like pins in the collars. Does anybody know how this goes together/comes apart?

You need a torch, get the plastic pins real hot and they pop out themselves, the new u joints will have circlips.

The reason you mihght not be able to see the snap rings ,it that they may be on the inside of the u-joint.Your most likely going to half to drop the drive shaft in order to be able to replace the u - joint.Once you have the drive shaft out & the snap rings off of the u-joint, take a hammer and hit the u- joint until the cap sticks out as far as it will go ,then hit it the other way until you can get the u-joint out ,now that you have the u-joint out of the way take a 5/8 socket and knck the caps out of the drive shaft.
