Anybody remember the good old days of wrestling?

Anybody else remember when they didn't totally focus on the next ppv,and build storylines up to it,but instead, they actually focused on wrestling?I really wish that WWE would stop focusing so much on building storylines and hyping the next ppv,and actually focus on putting some good matches out there.

Yes, yes I do, and sometimes I am saddened by the fact that after a pay-per-view they immediately start hyping the next one. But that comes for the fact that there is a pay-per-view every month (sometimes two a month) and creative team has to have some way to sell the event. Back in the days of the old WWF there was only The Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series, (WCW/NWA ran pay-per-views during alternating months) and with a 2-3 month gap in between there was more time to build up a storyline while still focusing on the wrestling entertaining aspect and for those "feuds" that needed that little extra something there was Saturday Night Main Event (Clash of the Champions for WCW).

Let's clear something up. The "good old days" were *not* the Attitude Era. The Attitude Era was all about shock TV, the actual wrestling aspect of it was a very distant 2nd place (or 3rd). Even in the 2nd Golden Age of wrestling (mid-1980's) the WWF still heavily favored putting characters over wrestling. At the same time though the NWA's product was mostly about the in ring action. The characters largely weren't as outrageous/unbelievable as what the WWF offered. Of course around 1993 everything went to hell in a hand basket for WCW. And they didn't pull themselves out of it until around 1995. Fortunately though, for the fans that favor in ring action over everything else. WCW in the mid-late 90's was amazing, Easy E wisely brought in the best talent from all over the world. Consequently you had the potential for amazing 4 star matches every week.

The Rock and HHH was a great rivalry. Hulk and Sting? Eh.... not really. Could have been good but Hulk always seemed to half-*** it in the ring back then and mostly did mic work on Nitro. A better Hulk Hogan rivalry was back even further in the day with Randy Savage.

I have been watching WWE when it was the WWF. I remember my first WM PPV which was WM 4. I was I think 8 or 9 at the time. I think it was by far better then now.

    I do remember those days...

but seriously, if you want a GOOD storyline, don't watch wrestling... you will never find it there...

I mainly watch WWE for the action, but they have lost it since the attitude story... so you'll neither find it there... watch TNA/ROH/CZW instead...

Hmmm.... I think the only thing that make me still watch WWE are the Divas...(that I think, they will never lose) :)

    oh yes

when factions were a unite and not just a leader

when house shows came by and they hyped them up and weren't so predictable

When a guy got in the ring he was a super hero and not a roid maniac

    ahhhhh

    i miss those days

I remember the good old days in WWF, when they showed it on KTTV (now Fox) every Saturday morning. It was pretty much about wrestling and they didn't fight over girlfriends. That is when I think Bob Backlund was champion, and Ivan Kolov was his arch enemy.
