Printer with cheapest ink?
I have a lexmark printer, and it seems to use up a lot of ink. The cartridges are expensive as well. I was wondering which brand printer has the cheapest ink, or which printer uses the least ink?
I used non brand ink before and had to get a new printer cos it messed it up

I have Lexmark printer , I take cartridge to local pc shop , they fill it for £6. Lasts ages, of course printer tells me cartridge is empty, I take no notice of that, its because I`m using compatible inks, it does`nt recognise cartridge. When are these cartridge firms going to get the message, its obvious they are overcharging. All my friends are using compatible inks at a fraction of the cost of the big brands.

Hello : )
Try www.UniversalPrints.tk.
They have a LIFETIME Warranty on all products, and they have Brother®, Canon®, Hp®, and Epson® Ink Cartridges starting at $3.99!
They also have LExmark & Dell Ink Cartridges, but as you said, they cost a lot more.
Their prices are the cheapest I've ever seen, and because they give you a lifetime warranty, www.UniversalPrints.tk is the best Canadian ink cartridge company on the internet.. I highly recommend it!

If you know where to go, you can find cheap ink for most printers. I have used and recommend Epson for many years because they have high quality output, a great warranty, a great price and I know where to get ink for under $3 a cartridge.
The best warranty in the industry. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one.
Epson has also made things easier for their customers by standardizing their cartridges. Most of their printers use one of two types. The three-color plus black use T069 (CX series as in 5000,6000,7000,7400,7450,8400,9400FAX,9475Fax NX series as in 100,105,200,400 Workforce series as in 30,40,500,600 and C120) and the 5-color plus black use T078 (R260 R280 R380 RX580 RX595 and RX680). This means finding cartridges is easy.
I get cartridges for my Epsons from http://ccs-digital.com/ for under $3 which hold 50% more ink than standard cartridges.
You can get a brand new multifunction (scanner/copier/printer) NX200 at officemax for half price, $40 instead of $80, no rebate needed.

Cheapest is of course, the old type where you can use a needle to shoot ink into the cartridge. But they have sensors now, to stop that.
My family bought a laser printer, because we had a problem of ink drying out - dont use it a lot.

Too bad you didn't ask, "Is there a printer with cheap ink cartridge prices that are reasonable?"
Easy to answer: NO.
How come?
Well, they make a lot of cash on the stupid little thingamies they fill with ink and they only fit their own cheap printers, hell, they'll even give you a printer, hoping to sell their ridiculously inflated thingamies.and soon become wealthy.
It reminds me of the poor people that need a blood tester for their blood-sugar.
Many times I've seen the offers for a free tester, but the test strips cost about $1.00 each, they only come in 50-100 strip packages, after selling 100 strips ($100.00), they have made enough money to pay for the tester, pay for the strips, and leave a profit of about $80.00.
I kid you not, you see, I'm a diabetic.

Just refill the cartridges - much cheaper - just ignore the ink level indicator.
£6 will buy you a refill kit that will fill the carts 6 - 10 times.
Just don't touch the metal contacts on the front of the cart
ADDED - Ahh! The non branded ink refills - YES! they will screw up your printer - rule one - NEVER use non branded stuff - I have used JR Inkjet refill kits for 10 years and NEVER had a problem with refilling or a problem with it affecting my printer.

By far the Kodak printers cost less to operate. They also deliver lab grade quality photos. The high capacity black tank is under 10 bucks and the color tank is under $15. There is a comparison site to crunch the actual numbers. See link:

I think Dixon's sells them.

Just dont buy the brand name ink. I just bought a color and black for a HP photo printer for $19.00 for both. Thats a fair price. Got it from usa1ink.com
