Do you think i'm worthy for these colleges?

I'm a sophmore in a high school in new jersey. I was wondering what kind of colleges I could get into with this resume?

-ranked barely in the top 10%

-a gpa of around a 3.6 or 3.7

-one year on the cross country team and tennis team

-in the national society of high school scholars

-im in many clubs such as the Future Business Leaders of America and competed in state and regional events for it, the Asian Club, Interact, which does community service projects and the Academic Team. Also I'm going to take many AP courses.

-Was featured on statewide tv on an academic quiz show called the "challenge" competing against other academic teams of other high schools

I was thinking of Boston University or New York University. How do you think I stack up? What colleges do you suggest to me?

Slam dunk for BU and good chance at NYU

Here are some additional New England schools you should look at. Princeton Review academic rating in parentheses:

    Tufts - (91)

College of the Holy Cross - (98)

    Middlebury -(98)

    Boston College - (88)

    Northeastern - (79)

    Boston University - (84)

    NYU (83)

Colleges look for a bit more than GPA. Trust me 4.0 with nothing else is tough.

I was like 3.89 with a lot of different activities that I was dedicated to, so I got into the U of Washington.

Activities that show diversity and you stick with them shows an interesting person that is COMMITTED, which is what colleges want. If you do a bunch of activities and quit after a month, they might think you're sort of flaky.

Keep trying to raise that GPA as high as you can get it. But note that a 4.0 with normal classes is worst than a 3.5 with challenging AP courses in the review process.

Best of luck to you mate. I thought about NYU and Boston too. Also Cali!

NYU is in between target and reach. Boston U is more in the Target/Safety spot. GW is a good place to check out, as are UMich, UWisconsin-Madison, Penn State, UMaryland -- these are all in that range. check collegeboard or US news & World Report rankings (which are often bullsh*t but provide an OKAY basic background)

Source(s): im a jr -- really good with this stuff. feel free to message me...
