R&P: We don't talk enough about Boston?

It's been duly noted that we don't really talk much Boston, so that is why I'm doing this. Great band, wildly overplayed on the radio, and very short lived success, but worth talking about nonetheless.

I like Boston but like you say, massively over-played especially where I grew up since it was less than two hours from the city. So, given that I don't tend to talk about them much or listen to that much anymore (only when the mood strikes me).

    My favorite Boston songs:

    The Launch/Cool The Engines

    More Than A Feeling

    Peace of Mind

I'd take Scholz over Schon myself.

As far as big trips, I just returned Monday after a ten day vacation in Maine.

Oops, nearly missed this one :-)

Of course I like Boston, More Than A Feeling is a pretty special song to me.

MQ - It's going to be More Than A Feeling. Really can't beat that song ;-)

MQ2 - Purely based on the hair back in the day. Neal Schon.

    BQ - Much more.

BQ2 - I'm not sure... I was thinking about going down to this cabin in the woods I've heard about, sounds pretty there :-)

I am really looking forward to this Ashes series and certainly haven't completely written the Aussies off. Having said that England must go into the series as overwhelming favourites due to recent form and the fact that the series is being played in England. I reckon Chris Rogers could be a bit of a dark horse as he knows the conditions over here pretty well. Good to see some friendly banter flying around between the 2 sets of supporters too!

  • MA: A Man I'll Never Be, Amanda, Hitch A Ride & Rock and Roll Band

MA2: Tom Scholz (he also invented the Polaroid One Step Camera...lol.. Neal help invent 'Bad English'... I like the camera better.....NOT! LOL!) but I do like Tom's 'boston' sound which is more unique than Neil's great bluesy/pop riffs. Love to hear 'em DUEL!

BA: It IS more than a feeling! I've known that for a 'long time'. 'Amanda' told me but said not to mention anything to 'Maryanne'. I told her to just 'cool (her) engines' and I would 'hitch a ride' over to her place. She said well 'don't look back' there's a 'rock and roll band' following you. They must think I'm Neil Schon from Journey, but that's 'a man i'll never be'. ;P

BA2: Yes, I'm going to the store here in about an hour to get some food. Yay! (and yes, amanda, i'm gonna hitch a ride there) ;P

When I was 13, in 1978, I went to my first concert (not counting Dolly Parton and/or the Bufford Pusser (walking tall) meet n greet when I was 7) lol

My first concert was Boston's Don't Look Back Tour. I saw them at the Omni in Atlanta, Georgia. I went with my older sisters and brother and their friends. I'd never even heard them before this show. We got the great seats at the Omni that put us BEHIND THE DRUMMER...LOL! So all we could see were their backsides. Brad Delp did turn around and stick his tongue at us though. But I was freakin' hooked! That show kept me inspired for years! I never got to go to another concert until 9 or 10 years later, The Whitesnake Tour w/Great White. The day Brad died hurt so much because of all these memories of summers growing up with Boston always in the background playing somewhere and that voice you never got tired of. jUust plain simple party music (okay Tom was 'never' simple...lol) but music you could bang to and could make you happy at the same time, no matter how hard your day. Lots of rockers commit suicide. They get it all but it still isn't enough because at the end of the day, they are still human and still just want companionship. They get lots from us fans, but us fans go home and then the rockers we love become 'humans' again in their own rocker worlds. All we can do is love the music. Sure, Boston didn't have tons of albums. They did have an exclusive sound (the boston sound) just like ac/dc has their own 'sound'. And weither Boston did the 5 or 6 they did do, or even if they had stopped after the 2nd one or made 30 more,,, they would've all had that 'boston' sound reguardless. And like ac/dc, who've really only made one record themselves, they are timeless. I miss Brad but we still got 'Boston' and always will have. :) Thanks for talking about Boston today. When he died, everyone I knew thought I was stupid for crying. At least some of you peeps on here understand. :) Peace

they were okay, when they first released their first album i was struck by how much it sounded like the james gang rides again album, and how tom scholz sounded like joe walsh from his early days....more than a feeling is almost an exact copy of the james gang's song tend my garden, the hook is the exact same riff.

still, a very popular band at the time.

ma2...has to be tom scholz...there is no redeeming quality about journey except for their first three albums before steve perry joined.

Source(s): steve perry's mullet is a crime against humanity.

Hey I Like Boston....I owned Boston and Don't Look Back on 8 track tape when I was younger...still have them on vinyl. I am a bigger fan on Third Stage than most. Always thought the songs had resonance.

You have nailed many of my favorites....thanks for the great memories.

mA: yes, it can be more than a feeling!

MA2: Thinking about Vegas sometime soon!

  • I did not like them as much as the planet did, in the day. And that is day 1, or so, when they came out of the cellar. I did not buy, and neither did my close friends. The big gang of 100, I be looped to, could not of had, "More than a 20% Feeling"

Found plenty of other flavors that I could spend time with.

They do deserve recognition for their artistry and accomplishments.

    BOSTON RULES

"More Than A Feeling" is one of my all time top favorite songs, I'd say in the top three. To me it's happy music, summer music, reminds me of great times.

I have been listening to them for years and never EVER get tired of them

    MA: "More than a Feeling"

    MA2; Tom Scholz hands down

BA: It is DEFINATELY more than a feeling : )

BA2: Going on vacation in a few weeks :D YAY ME!
