Where to go in Leeds?

For my Birthday (9th May) I am going to Leeds for a day/night out with a group of friends. I have been once or twice before but don't know the place well so am looking for some suggestions where to go, planning on spending the afternoon there and then going drinking on the night. I would especially like some suggestions on where to go for a nice meal although nothing too expensive, and good pubs/clubs to go to. The times I have been before we always end up in Oporto which I like and pay a visit to the awesome Fred Pizza. Also I would like to go to a see a local band(s) if there is anything on that night that anyone is aware of.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

For some ideas on things to do in the day time have a look at the Independent's Simon Calder exploring Leeds for England TV.

And as far as eating and drinking are concerned why not have a look at Enjoy England's day trip finder. All restaurants/pubs are within 3 miles of the city.

    Hope this helps!
