If you are talking about worth it being trippy and what not as you might here, no.. there is nothing like that unless you drink it in large quantities..
It is cool however to say that you have drunk it before i guess lol
You put the alcohol into the spoon with the sugar cube to heat it up, it tastes MUCH better when you do this

worth it? it is an experience... we had all those silver absinthe spoons at home I never knew what they were for, and nobody ever explained. Later they disappeared, I don't know where they went to. Much later I learned all about absinthe, and that it was a social problem a long time ago because of the bad alcohols used etc etc... nowadays no more problem. I'd love to try, but I am in a country where it is impossible to get any - don't worry, we got plenty of other stuff! But I'd say, yes, it is worth while. It is an experience. And you are not trying to kill yourself are you?

If youre talking about the psycodelic effects, they are GREATLY exagerated. I agree with "effendi", the stories were patrially because of the high alcohol content (140 proof) and because the people that made it had alot of adulterants (like american moonshine in the early 1800's people used to go blind from that stuff). Dont believe me? Check out http://www.oxygenee.com/absintheFAQ2.html
Absinthe tastes totally GROSS. It is liquorice flavored. If you want to try the flavor of absinthe first, buy a bottle of Pernod. Even with sugr, it still tastes horrible. Czech absinthe tastes better becuase it has less anise and liquorice. (It still has wormwood).
Absinthe is now leagl just about everywhere so it shouldn't be that expensive anymore.
