Why does my apt.'s laundry unit make my clothes smell?

After I wash and dry it, the clothes have this strange smell to them? Is it b/c of my apt? So many people use the laundry units anyhow.

How do I get rid of that smell?

There could be a build-up of soap and detergent scum under the agitator. Complain to the apt. supervisor and ask them to clean the washers.

One thing you can do to minimize the odors on your clothing is to use a heavily scented laundry detergent (like Gain) and put a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle.

Try adding a little bit of vinegar (it won't leave a smell) or some washing soda, to your laundry. You can try baking soda, too. Sometimes these will counteract 'weird' odors.

You can also add a few (not much!) drops of your favorite essential oil scent to the rinse water.

Probably mildew trapped between tub & liner when someone left their clothes in washer too long (frequent situation in apartments).

Add a cup of either liquid Spc N Span or Pine Sol with your wash & detergent. This will help eliminate from your exposed clothes and also help 'clean' tub.

Adding white vinegar will also help eliminate from your current wash but will not help eliminating from the washer for future loads.

If you use different washers and dryers each time and still have the strange smell, it could be the water.
