  • Anyone extremely sensitive to someone's road rage?

Seriously, it felt like a monster was attacking me when a man chased me down honking and screamed at me in front of his kid. I stayed civil and apologized for making a mistake, but he didn't care. Don't these people care how they can make other people feel? I would feel AWFUL for degrading someone like that, especially if they graciously apologized.

I have a trauma history, so this man literally made me feel like I was re-living a bad experience. I couldn't breathe, I had a terrible headache the whole day, I panicked, and I'm getting flashbacks of how evil his face looked. I'm wondering if I should have just fought back, instead of acting calmly.

Is a situation like this even worthy to report to the police? Anybody else feel like road ragers are horrible sadists? I wouldn't be surprised if that man treated his family like garbage.

The more I tried to forget about this man..the harder it was. It was like trying to forget someone who died, but you can't. This road rage incident really made me feel disgusting.

  • Is it acceptable to say you have a step-dad among Indians?

What would happen if I casually said my dad was my step-dad and not biological? My mom raised me to think that none of the Indian-Americans will like us, everybody in the Indian community will talk bad about us, and how I will ruin her social life if I dare say that my mom is married twice. Is this true or is she lying? I sometimes do feel that she is only making her kids lie about her second marriage for her own selfish reasons. Popularity, being apart of the elitist cliques, and glamour is very important to her.

Some Indians say it's not a big deal, while others say "Yeah I can see why she would do that." I have been struggling with this for a long time, because I do NOT want to keep lying just to give into my mom's needs Lying just to please others makes me miserable, but my mom will never understand that. I'm a little worried though that what if something bad does happen if I'm open about having a step-dad? My mom will make my life a living hell, and trust me...she is good. Simply saying no or putting your foot down will not work with this lady. If murder was legal, I can bet money that she would want to kill me just for revealing that her husband is actually her second marriage. She's the type of person that desperately needs to get her way, or else.

Can any Indians give me their opinion? What are the views of a woman being married twice in Indian culture?

  • How many of you were born in a country that you have NO CONNECTION to?

My parents are from India and I have lived in the states since I was 1. I was born in the Philippines, but don't know much about it and haven't gone back since. I was wondering if others are in the same situation? People say that the place where you're born is where you're from, but I can't fathom that I'm "from" the Philippines. All I can say is that my culture and identity is Indian and American.

Does anyone else feel the same way? Were you born in a country that has nothing to do with your family's origins or where you grew up?

  • Why does my apt.'s laundry unit make my clothes smell?

After I wash and dry it, the clothes have this strange smell to them? Is it b/c of my apt? So many people use the laundry units anyhow.

How do I get rid of that smell?

  • How do you react to racist comments from little kids AND when you're at work?

I was at work, and this kid yelled "Stupid brown." I just looked at him and laughed, but I internally wanted to yell "Stupid fattie" (this kid was fat)..But, I thought I would make my company look bad and it was just best to ignore it?

How would you handle it? If I said something rude, I could have gotten into trouble? Chances are this kid isn't very happy in his life...He was probably 8-10.

  • What does it mean to respect your body when it comes to sex?

People say that those who have casual sex or sleep around aren't respecting themselves. Can someone explain to me? I hear this phrase so often, BUT I can't find anything that explains what respecting your body/sexuality is! I grew up in an environment where it was encouraged to act on your sexual impulses, so it's hard when someone doesn't teach you what "respecting your body" is.

If anyone can explain kindly, I would appreciate it greatly. Does that statement mean that sex is too sacred to be giving it out freely? Why do people get criticized for not respecting themselves when they have casual sex?

  • What does it mean when someone says "You don't have that professional edge?"?

I'm 26, but I sound young on the phone. Other ladies my age also sound young and high-pitched on the phone. People tell me I talk articulately, but this lady was rude on the phone and said "You don't talk professionally. You sound like you're 16! You don't have a professional edge to you. I don't want you working with my daughter" Um, was she only saying that b/c I sounded young? She was so rude that I didn't really want to talk to her or ask what she meant.

  • How do young therapists respond to the "You're too young to help me?"?

I've had a few older clients assume that I must not be "wise" enough to help them, while my other older clients find me very helpful. These clients bring up my age and think that I don't know anything by just how young my voice sounds or how I look. How do you respond to that and explain that age doesn't necessarily measure competence?

  • Filipinos using "Philippino?"?

I've seen some online and on youtube using Philippino, but someone told me that the correct way is Filipino? Or is just a matter of opinion? Does it really matter how you spell it? I'm an Indian born in a Western part of Manila, left when I was one and came to America...I grew up thinking that you were supposed to spell it "philippino" until someone pointed it out a few years ago. That person didn't believe that I was born in Manila, haha.

  • How many adult women here are attracted to minors? ?

Am I the only one that isn't sexually attracted to 14-17 year old boys? When I hear these stories about 25 year old women having sex with minors, my friends and I think "We sure as heck would rather go for adult men." When I see a 17 year old, I see a little boy...no matter how tall he is or how built he is. Seriously.

How many of you adult women think it's okay to have sex with teenage boys? Do you get aroused by teenage boys? I'm asking this b/c I don't think it's normal, but I want to see what other women think.

Some people are acting like it is normal, but I know adult women who have very high sex drives...and they would never touch a teenage boy.

  • An abusive parent's restitution? (professionals preferred to answer the question)?

Long story short. I finally got away from abusive parents by finishing my education, getting my own place and starting a job. While I pay most of my bills, my therapist said it was okay for my parents to lend me a helping hand to "pay back" for what they did to me (as a form of restitution). My parents have no problem paying for a few things, as long I'm financially independent for the most part. It's not like I'm expecting them to pay for EVERYTHING.

For some reason, I keep wondering if it's wrong? Some people on yahoo have said it is, but these people aren't professionals and like to make other posters upset. I just started a job, so it's not like I have a lot of money as it is...I have to wait awhile until steady paychecks roll in. If abusive parents are offering to help you a bit financially, would you see it as restitution on their part or me being a bad person?

Yes, I'm aware that this might be a ploy to get me to endure their abuse, but they can't do this since I'm 17 hours away from them. A part of me just continue to hear the voices of other yahoo posters saying that I'm just like my mooching gold-digger mom by letting my parents help me out a bit.

Not just for his music, but by his looks and his personality? I just noticed how attractive he is. I never noticed it before (both young and old). He has something sensual about him.
