How do you say "they were" in Spanish?
I'm pretty sure it's "estuvaron," but...you tell me.
Wait...I meant estuvieron. Is this correct?

It isn't like English in that there is only one way of saying it. There are 2 past tenses. One is estaban which means they were (as in doing something that lasts for more than one time--like studying, etc.)
then estuvieron means they were (as in something that happened and is done with)
The first example is a tense called infinitive and the second is called preterit.
I hope this helps.

Estuvieron works and so does estaban and eran. Really depends on who your talking to and what you are trying to say exactly.

it means:
Ello/as estuvieron
Ellos/as Fueron
Example:
Ellos estuvieron alli ayer: they were there yesterday
Ellos fueron muy guapos: They were very handsome.. :P
