I changed the oil in my 97 Jeep Cherokee and now the pressure gauge reads 0?

Is this a problem? It (the gauge) was bouncing around between 0 and 20 before I changed it, but now it won't move. So far there aren't any funny sounds so I figure it's alright, just wanted to see if I'm missing something. I changed the oil, oil filter, and air filter.

Update:

Slight update, I was using 10w30 before, and I switched to 5w30, could this play a part?

If its a 4.0 liter the oil pressure switch is right above the filter and you may have broken it or unplugged it accidentally. Check the switch to see if it looks ok.

That change in oil weight isnt enough to cause a problem. Going to a lighter oil would make it easier to pump.

Change the filter NOW! it sounds like the new oil filter you put on is in what is called "bypass". It is where the filter lets all oil flow thru not being filterd. I have run into this using fram oil filters, I am sure other filters will do the same. This is a filters way of consantly giving oil even when the filter is clogged up.Basicly dirty oil is better than no oil. After you change the filter, add one more quart of oil, be sure and check the level when you are done.

Chk underneath and make sure it isn't leaking out somewhere. It is common to install an oil filter and forget the old gasket on the engine, thus double gasketing it. Take the filter off and check for an extra gasket, or replace the filter. The check valve may be stopping oil flow.

Make sure there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump. If not probably the gauge is screwed up from changing the oil filter.

Oil pressure gages don't reset, they read pressure. Did you add oil? Did you put on a new filter, and is it on correctly? Did you put the plug back in when you drained out the old oil? If not the new oil ran through.

You should have oil pressure. If you changed the oil and there is no pressure, that could be a problem.

If you open the oil cap do you see oil moving?

sounds like it's either a bad oil filter, hope you are NOT using fram.

or the oil pressure sender is bad.

If it sound good it is a good sign you might want to install a gauge to to engine to make sure. This will tell you what is so your not guessing.
