What song should I walk down the aisle to during my wedding?

I think that the Bridal Chorus ("Here comes the bride) is out dated and old fashioned. I don't like Beyonce! But I'm very open to everyone else.

I had our cellist play an instrumental version of the love-song theme to the Princess Bride for the first part of the processional, and then the last part was Pachelbel's Canon in D. I happen to love the Canon - which is a very traditional and very popular processional song - because the sound is just very graceful.

If, however, you're looking for something less traditional, as one example, I know many brides who have walked down the aisle to various songs from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack - the music really is beautiful. Are there other favorite movies of you and your future husband that might have a pretty song/soundtrack that would have some extra meaning for you?

If you're looking for something with lyrics specifically, here are a few other suggestions, and a WIDE range of styles:

    You and Me - Lifehouse ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUi2gbhP_mU

Everything - Lifehouse - is also very pretty and less traditional ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjDojEOiMcE&feature...

    A Page is Turned - Bebo Norman ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVsDL70lnoI

    Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo5wtQn4Ozs&feature...

    I Swear - All-4-One - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDcpXlttqq4&feature...

    All My Life - KC & Jojo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nOY6wDIu8k&feature...

Here and Now - Luther Vandross - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A31u-dIMT-4

Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkWGwY5nq7Ahttp://w...

    Here - Rascal Flatts - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saXYgBRas9Y&feature...

    This Day - Jadon Lavik - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1avrkWBpHg

So, there's links so you can hear the music if you're interested ... but I'll just say again that the most important thing is that you find something that is meaningful in some way - even if it's only meaningful in a silly way - because it's a pretty tune from a favorite movie, or a song that just makes you think of your fiance.

    Good Luck!

For my wedding I had the musicians play the Forrest Gump Suite theme song. I know it sounds crazy, something from Forrest Gump, but it is so beautiful and I think it would work perfectly before Canon in D is played for you to walk down the aisle. Look it up on Youtube, it's a great tune.

I think you can't go wrong with classical...regal and elegant and sets a gorgeous mood.

    Go here:

    http://www.playlist.com/searchbeta/tracks#Wedding%...

    My favorites from this are:

    -Ave Maria

    -Purcell Trumpet Voluntary

-Jesus Joy of Man's Desiring (may not be appropriate if you're not having a christian wedding lol)

    - Air on the G-String

and the BEST is the Swan...just close your eyes and imagine yourself coming down the aisle to this, dressed in white and beautiful like a swan..it makes me want to cry lol.

Of course having these played live could be costly for the musicians.

I don't like "Here Comes the Bride" either- it sounds like the funeral march !!

I'm walking down the aisle to the popular ukulele version of "Over The Rainbow"- you've probably heard it in commercials and stuff because they use it a lot. It's very beachy and tropical, which is the vibe I wanted to have, even though I'm here in landlocked Colorado and a lake is the closest I could get to a beach for my ceremony!

Here are some other ideas for songs you could use:

Pop/Rock: (you can get instrumental string quartet versions of any of these)

    "Something" by the Beatles

"In My Life" by the Beatles

    "No One" by Alicia Keys

    "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz

"The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra

"When I Fall In Love" by Celine Dion

"Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Bros.

    "At Last" by Etta James

"Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin

    Classical:

"Air on a G String"- Mozart (I think)

"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"- Bach

    "Spring-from the Four Seasons"- Vivaldi

    "Fur Elise"-Beethoven

"Love theme from Romeo And Juliet"- Tchaikovsky

    Movie Soundtracks:

"The Feather Song/Forrest Gump Suite"- Alan Silvestri

"Imperial March (Darth Vader Song)"- John Williams (don't laugh, but a friend of mine actually did this and it worked out well)

"Theme from Love Story"- Henry Mancini

"As Time Goes By"- from Sleepless in Seattle

"Falling Slowly"- from the movie Once

They have more modern sounding versions of the Bridal March that are not so loud and dramatic sounding. That would still be traditional.

Other than that, I'd pick "Have I Told You Lately" studio version sung by Rod Stewart or the writer Van Morrison.

If you as a couple have a song that's 'our song', have an instrumental version of it played.

I would suggest Bridal Chorus. Sometimes old fashioned is a good thing.

"Only fools rush in" by Elvis, either the original song or the instrumental

Cannon in D by Bach I think... I can't remember it, but it's another traditional song played at weddings but I think it's really pretty.

Pacabel's Cannon in D - thats what i would have, really pretty

or try Andrea Bocelli - Con te Partiro (instrumental)

One of my choices is the song off of the "Girlfriends" soundtrack, Soulmate. It is a beautiful song

I like Ave Maria personally I think that is what I will use
