Can anyone help with my Trigonometry Homework?

3 questions, that's all. And I don't get ANY of them. Please explain how you got your answer, and please put your WHOLE answer if there's a big decimal. And I need someone to explain what an angle of elevation is and what an angle of depression is. Thank you so much in advance. =]

1. The angle of elevation to the top of a building is found to be 8 degrees from the ground at a distance of 5153 feet from the base of the building.

Find the height of the building. ________

2. A plane is flying at an elevation of 34000 feet. It is within sight of the airport and the pilot finds that the angle of depression to the airport is 24 degrees.

Find the distance between the plane and the airport. ______

Find the distance between a point on the ground directly below the plane and the airport.

3. The captain of a ship sees a lighthouse which is 160 feet tall. The captain measures the angle of elevation to the top of the lighthouse to be 14 degrees.

    1. 724.2069212 ft.

    tan 8 deg. = x/5153

    2. 83592.17341 ft. from airport

    34000/x = Sin 24 deg.

    76365.25031

    tan 24 deg. = 34000/y

    3. 641.7249494

    tan 14 deg. = 160/x

bro the first one is easy and it will teach ya how to do the rest of em

    ok use the sine theorom

first you get the sine of 8 degree angle which is .1392

then set up your simple equation

    .1392 O

    _____= _____

    1 5153

cross multiply so 1 times O is O

    .1392 times 5153 is 717.2976

so the equation comes out to answer O = 717.2976

the height of the building is 717.2976 ft

:) look up sine cosine and tangents and that will help you a LOT lol best answer? or what?
