It was up to you to turn it in! Nobody comes chasing you for it. Now take it to the nearest US consulate in your own country, and bring your plane ticket, boarding pass, etc, to prove when you left the US, plus your passport your country stamped with your return date. This way you prove you are in your own country, when you returned, etc.
Until you prove you are out of the US, hand in that I-94, the 'puter thinks you are in the US -- now illegally! The sooner you get it done, the better.

An I-94 is a form denoting the Arrival-Departure Record of particular foreigners used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) uses Form I-94 also. If you are out of United States right now, you can present it upon return.

No big deal. The airline should have lifted it but this is a frequent
occurance. When you return you can surrender the I-94s to the
immigration officer and explain what happened without consequence.

I'm not sure I understand your question. The I-94 is required to be filled out by nonimmigrants entering the US with a VISA. You turn it in when you leave unless there is time remaining on it and you'll be back in a short period of time.

It is common and happened in many cases that I94 is not taken out by the airline checking counter at the airport while leaving the USA. You should always check whether airline checking person should take your I94, if not ask him/her to take it.
