In a office environment . . . . . . . . .?

Unfortunately yes. At some places it's almost seems like a required part of the job. It's like grade school where there is always a teachers pet and even if the person's who's getting their butt kissed denys it, they do favor them.

If you're at a decent place then eventually you just doing the best at what you were hired to do can out shine any butt kissing going on. In the end it's what you do and not how many people you climb over to get to where you want. People need to stay focused in this environment on their job and not let petty/fake people interfere.

In the end Karma always wins anyways =}

This is the result of people not having any measurable objectives. If you had a boss who sat down with people and said "I expect you to do x, y, and z this year" or something like that, and were measured on how well they did x,y, and z, a lot of the a@@ kissing would disappear.

In absence of objective work results, people will do what ever they need to do to protect their jobs, including being fake, a@@ kissing, and taking credit for others work.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

It is called survival and yes, it comes with office work. For every office worker, there are ten other people who want that job at all times competing for it. The person in the job has to make sure that they both hold their job and do not miss an opportunity for a raise or a promotion.

With that as a basic foundation for office work, the situation is unavoidable.

Don't feed into all this crap ,yes there are a s kissing but that does not mean you have to be one to , do your job and stand up for what you believe in you will feel better about your self at the end of the day.

This strikes a nerve with me. Finally a question I can be serious about. I HATE A_S-S kissers and all the fake crap. My office is full of them.

It's the worst thing about my job

I've worked for many companies of all different sizes. In some organizations there was a lot of politics and a#$ kissing. In others, not so much. Fortunately I don't see much of that at my current company.

I swear my office is the worst. Plus I have to sit right next to my boss, who is constantly worrying about what I do instead of herself...its horrible.

Always remember that the toes you step on today are attached to the a$$ you may have to kiss tomorrow.
