Baseball Section: It is only May but...?

People are acting like it's October!

However, what team got off to a slow start that you did not expect, and what team got off to a surprisingly good start?

BQ: Are YOU sick of "Yankees Suck" questions? Lol

I didn't expect to see Texas get off so slow. They won swept the Indians in Texas and beat up on the 08 CY Young winner. Then Hamilton got hurt and it was downhill for awhile (story of our life) btu I really think they've done better the last 6 games. :]

BQ: You have no idea =( Oh wait, yes you do. We were just talking about it. lol

I know. It's unbelievable how people are saying Grienke is the surefire Cy Young, the Blue Jays will win the division, the Yankees will finish last, Carlos Pena will be the homerun leader, Wang won't pitch in the majors again for the season, etc., etc. (didn't hear ONE of those before the season started). All of those are possibilities, but aren't probabilities.

BQ: I come home, log on Answers, and see eight questions (I counted) about the Yankees on the first page. They are .500. Sure, they have the biggest salary, but still, their WP is better than 13 other teams.

I wonder why nobody said the Angels yet. Yeah, they have injuries to deal with, but entering this season I'm sure no one thought they'd be losing the division at any point this season.

Which brings me to my next point..I think the biggest surprise teams are the Mariners (from losing 100 to leading the division..) and the Royals (laughing stock of the AL Central).

I personally don't think the Jays are surprising. They're never bad. Besides, they have Roy Halladay. Not to mention, I never had high hopes for the Yankees or Rays even though they went and "bought" a championship this season or were the AL champs last season.

The Yankees, Angels, and Cubs have underachieved while the Blue Jays, Royals, Mariners, and Dodgers have done better than expected.

I hate the Yankees but yes I am sick of all the Yankees Suck questions.

    AL Central:

    Slow: Chicago, Minnesota, and Cleveland.

    Good: Kansas City

    AL West:

    Slow: LA Angels

    Good: Seattle

    NL East:

    Slow: Atlanta

    Good: Florida

    NL Central:

    Slow: Chicago Cubs

    Good: Milwaukee

    NL West:

    Slow: Arizona

    Good: LA Dodgers

    BQ: Yes

  • Twins got to a slow start since Joe Mauer was out and you know how indisposable he is to their team.

Rays got off to a pretty slow start too.

Eh, Blue Jays will probably eventually come back to earth, I just cant see Red Sox, Yankees, either of them missing the play-offs.

BQ - *laughs* ... They get on people's nerves you know.

K.C. is suprising the hell out of the A.L. Central. There will always be "yankees suck" questions. People tend to dislike the most overall successful teams. Like my Red Wings, they either love 'em a lot or hate 'em a lot.

I knew Angels would be a bit slow but i didn't know it would be THIS bad :(

M's way to go! Its nice to see below average teams do well for a change, it would be cool if they continue :D

I don't think Royals are all too surprising, Jays .. a little bit but not THAT much.
