would you get a dog who had tapeworms, hookworms or roundworms?
I was supposed to get my puppy today but he didn't pass his health exam. they found worms in his feces. I am concerned cause i don't know if it is serious. This is my first time owning a dog.
he had hookworms...how long does it take to treat that?

Try not to be too overwhelmed by hearing that your puppy has worms. Dogs and Cats get worms. The worms your puppy has can be easily treated by your vet. Make sure you safely pick up feces and discard it. Keep puppies bedding washed and be sure to use a flea and heart worm medication as prescribed by your vet. Heart worms are the the worms that should be feared, they are very difficult to treat and can lead to death. So an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Good Luck and have fun with your new puppy

Worms are not a big deal. You give them a couple pills and the worms are gone. And by keeping the feces cleaned up, they don't spread. I've brought home dogs with all kinds of worms, it's not the plague.

If it is from a breeder, absolutely NOT. A puppy with worms that were not immediately taken care of was not properly cared for by the breeder, indicating a very disreputable breeder. I would not pay a breeder for a dog with any type of health problem. Period. If it is a shelter dog, I would adopt him anyway. Parasites are easily cured with a course of good quality dewormer from the vet once they figure out what parasites the puppy has.

My puppy has round worms....You were lucky to find out before hand....she is a great dog none the less and they are easily treated...Just be carefull you can transfer round worm to humans and it dangerous to humans. That being said as long a you have a carpet cleaner and are ready to take care of that precious puppy. Then why not...like i said in puppies its really easy to get rid of and Our puppy roxie is a great loving dog and we wouldnt trade her for the world.

Worms are very treatable. As long as they get rid of them completely he should be ok. Worms are quite common espically in puppies. At my work we would feed them de wormer called Stronged. it smelled like Bananas. Depending on how bad the worms were that would be it our they would come back for a second round.
Worked at a Veterinary clinic.

All of those worms can be treated, roundworm is very common in puppies. That's why puppies need repeated dewormings.

Yes, the worms can be treated. All dogs get worms eventually, they just need to be treated for them.

I rescue and take in dogs with those parasites - and much worse.
Worms are easily gotten rid of, you just need a fecal to identify the type of worm and the right de-wormer, it's no big deal.
What's with you 2 sickos and **** eating? She asks for advice, stop being morons and answer her - it;s her first dog.

All of the worms he has are easily treated.
Once he's been dewormed, and checks out negative on his fecal test, it's fine to take him home.

Those are all pretty easy to treat. Worm the dog and take him home.
