Computer keeps shutting down when burning dvd?

My Acer Aspire SA85/ AP S285 desktop with Windows XP Service pack 3 has started shutting down when burning DVD's with Xilisoft DVD creator. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine just last week but suddenly started just turning itself off every time I try to burn something. I have changed the power supply as I thought it must be that but it still has the same problem. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Update:

I managed to burn one movie last night without it shutting down and thought I had fixed the problem but a second burn shut it down again. I am at a loss!!

It seems you have an area somewhere in your memory that is triggering your pc to shut down / restart. Sometimes you will spend weeks trying to track something like this down and it won't. Be advice, back up your files and re-image your machine. I do it about 3 times a year because I keep all my files on an external drive.

    Hope that helps!

    Attempt to troubleshoot and isolate.

First thing that comes to mind is heat, possible the computer is overheating due to a faulty drive.

If there is another cooling unit beside the power supply, that could be a problem too.

Make sure all airways are clear of debris.

At this point, you should try another program. If it works, the problem is your program. If it does not work, try to burn a CD. See if that causes similar results. If it does, the problem is with the actual action of burning.

This could mean a problem with the drive itself. By now, if you have the means, pull the drive and stick it into another stack and see what happens.

Start big, and then decompose step by step.

EDIT SINCE UPDATE: definitely sounds like overheating!!
