How much should I pay a house/dog sitter?

I have asked a young cousin to stay at my house while we go on vacation. She is in her early 20's and just has to care for the dog and be here overnight while we are away. During this time she can still come and go as she pleases as long as the dog is provided for. I did this a few times when I was her age but I forget how much I was paid (plus it was about 20 years ago). I remember that the most valuable benefit to me was the fact that I was out of my parents' house for the week.

Update:

I would be paying $24 per night for a kennel where he would spend the night in a cage

Why not just sit down with your cousin and come up with an appropriate payment between the two of you? She may be perfectly content with $50 for the whole week. If its only one night, then she may just simply request that there be plenty of food in the house (maybe order a pizza in advance) and a gift card for a movie rental. Just negotiate and come up with what is best for the two of you.

Well i think you should pay her according to how long you'll stay for vacation. If it is a week or two. Because keep in mind your dog might need some supplies from the pet store. So if your dog has everything and just needs to be taken care of then for a night i'd say $35. But if you think your dog will need some supplies and you're not there to bring the things. Calculate how much does everything cost + the taking care thing.

Source(s): Don't forget how much you love your dog and how much you what it to be taken care of. Cheers!! Have a Great Vacation and take care! :-)

$2 hundred sounds great yet ascertain you go away you vets information on hand with a notice giving her permission to take up a glance for medical care if needed. additionally call your vet and supply them the heads up you're going out of city and have a puppy sitter.make useful she is conscious your toddler's habitual and that they get alongside and that she haven't any stranger in the homestead that would dissatisfied your toddler. some sitter can charge around 20 dollars a nite to stay at someone's homestead yet they are doing it for a residing/profession and not for xtra money. i'd do it for $2 hundred. If she is staying at your place and you furnish some thing to consume/drink. a useful boarding facility with xtra bling will run you approximately 25-35 a nighttime yet no one is there to snuggle with your toddler at nite.

I think 24.00 a night would be a nice jester. She would be providing your dog a better benefit than the kennel would. Your dog could stay at home, you wouldn't have to worry about him getting fleas at the kennel or getting attacked by people or other dogs at the kennel. I think 24.00 a night for the peace of mind of having a family member care for your beloved dog is a great deal. I would ask her what she wants. When I was younger I dog/house sat for people for free because it got me out of the house. I still dog sit for free, so people won't have to worry about their dogs getting abused at the kennels. My mother had a puppy beaten when she boarded it to come to my wedding and it never recovered from the abuse of that kennel.

I pay $40 per night in California. But your cousin is unlicensed, unbonded and uninsured so $25 should be plenty.
