What is life like as a physical therapist (dpt) in the US Army?

i am on my way to getting my doctorate in physical therapy and want to know from other therapists or anyone that has worked with them how things are in the army.

i want to go active duty and i also can speak some Arabic... i would like to work on the front lines at bases but if not its okay too.

I want to do all I can to help our men and women on the battlefield.

as a physical therapist you will be assigned to either: a permanent (by perminent i mean one at your duty station) military hospitol, a permanent military clinic, a CSH, or a BCT.

if you work in a military hospitol, it will be just like doing your job in a civilan hospitol. only you'll get paid less, work with soldiers, and hae to remember who to salute.

if you work in a clinic, it will be just like working in a civilian clinic with the same differences stated above.

if you work in a csh: you'll sit in an air conditioned tent all day on deployments working mainly with sprained ankles. stateside you'll work at either the clinic or the hospitol.

is you work for a BCT (brigade combat team), then you will spend the most time at the level 2 or 3 medical clinic established by that units BSB. if the brigade is spread out, you will travel to the bases where the other battalians/companies are occasionally so you can treat soldiers there. if your with a BCT you'll deal with back pain a lot, the way the IBA sits on your shoulders and presses on your lower back, it has a tendancy to make ribs pop out of place where they connect to the spine. its an easy fix, its just painful until you can get your back cracked. when you're state side you'll work at the clinic or the hospitol.

Are you a qualified actual Therapist? if so, i know that you do not go with the help of boot camp interior the army, because you would possibly want to be an officer and they have their very personal software. it truly is called Officer Indoctrination route. once you've your degree and license you are able to prepare for an instantaneous fee. yet for the military, it truly is somewhat diverse. in case you probably did not take ROTC in college then you definitely might want to bypass to elementary preparation in the previous OCS. yet i'm no longer sensible in the experience that they do medical occupations in yet otherwise. The army separates all officials from day one. So a army officer not in any respect is going to enlisted boot camp no count what software they arrive in on. i became army and a Corpsman and worked with some actual therapists, and different wellbeing care professional...and none went as well camp until eventually they were enlisted first. i imagine the military does it because they are extra actual and they coach their officials somewhat in yet otherwise. all of it works out interior the end. Now in case you're speaking about being a actual remedy technician, then you definitely might want to bypass to elementary preparation or boot camp because the technicians are enlisted.
