Question about SSI and Unemployment?

A co worker of mine is 67 years old and collect Social Security in addition to his salary from work. If he is laid off is he elgible for unemployment? Can he earn both unemployment and his Social Security or will it be a one or the other type deal?

Update:

Sorry I meant Social Security. The kind you receive after you're 65.

Social security isn't the same as SSI - they are two very different programs, both administered by the social security administration.

If he has been working, he can apply for unemployment - approval depends on his state law.
