A bit of humor here, was Newton wrong about gravity?

Newton's law of gravity states that objects are attracted to each other in direct proportion to their mass and indirect proportion to the square of the distance.

Then why are the ladies not attracted to me the more massive I get.

(It does not matter how close I get, in fact, sometimes when getting close, for purely scientific reasons, pepper spray has been known to be used.)

Update:

But Ravidina, it is their bodies, or, if you prefer, their matter, I am trying to attract. . .

Update 2:

Ok, Andrew, electromagnetic forces are like light, right.

So, you are saying I have to get massive, but look not massive?

Is there a magic section here?

It's because of the gravitational constant - "G".

You have to say "Gee" a lot, and pretend you are interested in their gossip, otherwise antigravity kicks in.

The force of gravity is mighty strong; and always has to be reckoned with.

However, the force of gravity is 10 to the 38th power WEAKER than the electromagnetic force.

That's your problem - negative 'lectricity: you need to be a LOT heavier to overcome the force of electrical repulsion you are experiencing (that's 10^38 times heavier - a LOT of big macs!).

Then again, if your aim is to eventually form a permanent bond with a view towards a typical 'nuclear' family; then the nuclear force is a thousand times as strong again!

There you are - you learnt something about the forces of nature; so your question had a serious side to it.

ps: if your weight increased by a factor of 38 orders of magnitude; you would have a mass about a million times that of the entire solar system! This indicates just how 'weak' the force of gravity is; compared to the other forces of nature.

Haha! My high school physics teacher once said he used to "bump" into ladies and blame it on their gravitational attraction towards each other. He also mentioned that this tactic never got him anything other than an eye roll.

Newtonian gravity is certainly "incomplete." I would be so bold as to call it "wrong" though. It works flawlessly in non-relativistic scenarios and non-quantum levels.

Conceptually, though, the "binding force" of mutual attraction does seem a bit flawed. The "bending of spacetime" in Einstein's GR appears to be a better model, and more accurate conceptually. Still, as you gain mass, the ladies should have a more difficult time escaping the "gravitational well" that you produce.

    Hmmm...

The answer to this and many other questions may be found on a web site called

The Universe Explained. A Yahoo search finds it near the top of the page and it is

the .org.uk one. Use the feedback to have your say on the content. It is written in plain

everyday English so is easy to understand even for novices on the subject.

Like you, there are many other objects, (though not as much attractive as you are) which are attracting those ladies away from you and their combined force nullyfies your force of attraction.

Further Newton's laws are only for matters. Mind and love etc are not matters, hence Newton's laws are not applicble for them.

You are not spinning fast enough. Nothing attracts women like a massive guy doing a toe spin.

  • We are so attracted to you. I personally am attracted to your massive wit, and your massive brain. You never cease to fascinate. Unlike another here I am already South and all of me is here!!!LOL!!!XXXOOO's

I'm more attracted to you the longer I know you! 3 years now, imagine my lust when we know one another 5 years....I won't be able to contain myself and gravity will propel me south.

No, wait...that's just my @ss moving south.
