How many people have had their printers ruined from refilling ink cargtriges?
I had a Lexmark X5250 and would say I have been refilling the ink cartridges for about the last year of it's 3 year life--now it just won't print--It is a scanner printer copier fax--the scanner and fax still work of course the copier doesn't because the printer doesn't it acts like it is but paper comes out blank--Now i ordered a different printer and the cartridges are 25 and 29 $ and I was planning on just having them refilled but I am a bit scared now--Maybe if I can't refill cartridges I will have to return this particular printer and get one with cheaper ink tanks BUT I've been looking for an all in one (printer scanner copier Fax) and can't seem to find one with cheap ink tanks--Printer ink is RIDICULOUSLY expensive and I want to be able to have them refilled but don't want to ruin my new printer--Please only serious replies--Thank you

Refilling ink is a risky business. Read http://ccs-digital.com/refills.asp
While you're there, check out their 2-piece ink cartridges for Epson which hold 66% more ink and cost under $3.
Then think about getting an Epson for good quality output, a solid warranty and the availability of inexpensive ink.
The best warranty in the industry. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one.
I have been using Epsons and these compatible cartridges for many years.

There are no "cheap" ink refills, and I have heard of people having similar problems as you have. Use the head cleaning and alignment functions that came with your printer multiple times until you have better results. In general, you have to pay for proper ink cartridges or run into similar problems no matter which printer you buy.
Yes, it's annoying to have to pay so much. For now, please get used to the idea-- it's the nature of the beast.

my mom was refilling hers and something happened and it leaked. it ruined the printer. but there is a different kind of ink that is cheaper than the rest but i think it goes with a certain type of printer. but ya we had to go get a new printer. i am sorry that happened to you. ya it is way too expensive.
