  • Cat people I need your help! Will regular 8' vinyl or smooth wood fencing work for keeping in cats?

I have some cats and they were outdoor at one time so they want out really badly plus I still feed some tame strays but I am terrified of the town traffic and while we have been looking for country properties, they are either 2 expensive 2 far from town 2 run down etc so I am thinking of fencing in our whole yard here in town with gates at the driveway any suggestions??Thanks

  • Will 3 males ever get along to live in the same yard?

We have a yellow indoor/outdoor cat(he sprays if we won't let him out!) and now a few domesticated strays have shown up that we just can't turn away either. Problem is black cat chases the timid less social whitish one away and also chases my yellow cat too. Our yellow and the whiter colored one seem to get along ok if they could all learn to co-exist there is a flap that goes to the basement for winter shelter

2nd part do those cat fences work I get so freaked by the thought of them getting hit I am not sure that they would ever be good house cats since they have now been "out" and i certainly want NO marking in my house (and my yellow male marks around outside even though neutered)

    Sorry so long!

P.S. I know I should keep them in but I already have 3 animals inside now and just not sure I am up for 4 cats and a dog inside to clean after I am trying to find the 2 strays homes and will give them away if it would be an indoor home and what would be best for them but hard to find people to take them now days!

    Thanks for any info

  • OMG I am in so much angst over having my cat spayed only because I am worried for her safety?

First off I didn't catch it before she went into heat and so she has been going in and out now since Nov.She got ill when we got her so i am afraid that something will happen to her (I have bad luck in life a lot)Also I have it scheduled for tomorrow morning and she is still in a heat she started the 14th i thought she'd be done by now she doesn't usually go this long--first one was 4 days second like 5 next one 5 or 6--anyway I am so nervous it is making me physically ill they don't do preop bloodwork where I go--they said I could get some for 100. and then wait til the 17th of March then because they are all booked up--What are some NICE opinions please. I have had 5 other animals neutered or spayed (3 females and 2 males) so I am responsible I am just really scared this time!

    Thanks

  • My cats played at first now they fight?

When I got my female kitten I introduced her slowly to my 10 yr old male.I did the towel rub/scent thing to make sure they had a good chance to get along they were kept separated for a week and introduced several minutes at a time until I felt safe(same with the Lab that I have)--and at first they played a lot-now that she has gotten older he is mean to her he rarely wants to play and hisses and growls and really goes after her--I know that he likes other cats he always seems to have friends outside and he always wanted to play with my female I had before that passed away(she hated other cats and did not play with him) I am heartbroken the kitten is sweet as can be and I wanted them to get along and am so disappointed This male goes outdoors ONLY because if I don't let him he used to spray and tear up the furniture(and YES he IS fixed) so now he comes in to eat and then afterward she tries to play and he mainly just growls hisses and then wants back outside(I have a basement and he can get in through a cat door we put in for him and it is warm in there and I made him a nice bed of old blankets and pillows and a storage bin so he has it pretty good that way!) but I just don't understand why he has changed so much toward the kitten he never liked me anyway only my husband and he still gets a lot of attention from my husband- the female is mostly like "my" cat The dog gets along ok with both He grooms the male cat and he lets the female lie on his big pillow with him although when they fight he doesn't like it! --If anyone who is really experienced with cats can give me some idea why this happened and any ideas to have them get along better I would sure appreciate it! Have been thinking about a Feliway but they are expensive and don't want to throw my money away--All are treated with Frontline now(where at first the kitten wasn't as she was too young) could this be making the male hate the female as it changes her scent

Thanks in advance for your answers

  • Have a kitten who hasn't had vaccinations yet..?

But will be- we're just a bit behind I also have a stepdaughter and one of her grandmother's cats died of Feline Leukemia and my stepdaughter actually has 1 kitten from that litter too(they have 5 cats altogether they found 2 litters abandoned and each took half) and so now I am worried about her coming over and playing around with my kitten because I heard that the virus can even live on clothing--am I just being paranoid and if I get the cat vaccinated today will it even help by this weekend??Should I have her change her outfit when she gets here and then wash all her clothing as a preventative measure?

    Thanks

  • How many people have had their printers ruined from refilling ink cargtriges?

I had a Lexmark X5250 and would say I have been refilling the ink cartridges for about the last year of it's 3 year life--now it just won't print--It is a scanner printer copier fax--the scanner and fax still work of course the copier doesn't because the printer doesn't it acts like it is but paper comes out blank--Now i ordered a different printer and the cartridges are 25 and 29 $ and I was planning on just having them refilled but I am a bit scared now--Maybe if I can't refill cartridges I will have to return this particular printer and get one with cheaper ink tanks BUT I've been looking for an all in one (printer scanner copier Fax) and can't seem to find one with cheap ink tanks--Printer ink is RIDICULOUSLY expensive and I want to be able to have them refilled but don't want to ruin my new printer--Please only serious replies--Thank you

  • I really want a Yorkie someday?

I have always loved them a lot and now I am becoming disabled due to chronic back pain and problems so I can't care for BIG dogs anymore (even though I love them too)Right now I still have a cat and a Lab/Golden mix that I love dearly but am finding it harder and harder to take care of and who is soooo jealous wouldn't allow me to have another dog(so it won't be anytime soon for the Yorkie!)

My question is this--if I cannot find one from a shelter is it ok to get one from a cousin of mine who is breeds them?

ALL of my other pets all my life have been unwanted cast outs from neighbors or something --I know it is bad to breed with soooo many homeless animals out there but I cannot make them stop I know they do it for the money(they also do like animals they have horses and dogs and cats on a farm)

I would look at shelters first and have done so recently and see there are some but wonder if they are full blooded and if they will get larger than 6 lbs or so (I can still carry that if need be)

Would I be a terrible person for getting one not from a shelter?

  • What is WRONG with people now days thinking Unions are "bad" and wanting to "do away" with them?

These "right to work" laws are BAD for PEOPLE but great for multi million dollar companies let me tell you--Just see how badly workers will be taken advantage of if this happens:how LITTLE the wages will be-how easy it will be for employers to GET RID of you if you have medical problems or the like and how bad your insurance will end up being IF you have ANY--

I know that Unions SOMETIMES can abuse their privileges but do you not think EMPLOYERS will take advantage of their workers if they can??

I worked for a company that has a Union Plant in Michigan and they cam into Indiana and started a non union plant so they could pay worse and treat them employees worse--They shipped their automotive parts out from their "union" plant and made them at ours for a way lower rate of pay and we were made to work like SLAVES and I kid you not I was suppose to do 15000 parts a week--for one person that is quite a bit to do--and when you didn't you were chewed out DAILY sometimes hourly

SO why are all you people thinking unions are awful--If nothing else I hope that people who do will read this and change their minds
