When Obama was campaigning for President he talked of health coverage for all and it would ........?
pay for itself. Well, why do I hear rumblings among Congressmen that they are reluctant to consider raising taxes to pay for health coverage for the uninsured. Oh no! Do you mean Obama intentionally lied to the voters? What do you think or did I miss something along the way?
To Union_Do - Really! I guess I should consider the 40 page document released by the Senate Finance Committee of revenue raising options to fund the revamping of the health care system as a bunch of nonsense because you say so. Interesting.
To Sharon - In this case he made the statement early on that he would put into place a system that would pay for itself. He did not go into specifics but most people had the idea of the system I believe employed by Massachusetts. Now the real Obama is rearing his ugly head to reveal that he is no different than any other politician...white, black, or anything else.
To Dee - I guess you don't read what comes out of the finance committees as well. Please keep your head in the sand. You must look good with your behind up in the air.
To Ed J - Good answer and that is why I also believe the drug policies will not change in this country as well.

It will not happen until such time as big business puts more pressure on the members of the House & Senate. Too many politicians are in the back pockets of the insurance and the pharmaceutical companies, those companies have too much to lose if things were to change.

Like most misinformed Democrats desprate for CHANGE regardless of the consequences you voted for Obama's ideas without hearing how he was going to do what he promised.
Obama repeatedly spouted out what needed to be CHANGED but never said how and who would pay for the CHANGES.
He hinted that the rich would pay for them but he didn't say the rich would cut jobs if they have to pay for his CHANGES.
The people who voted for Obama looked at the pictures but failed to read the book.

Actually he proposes a FEE BASED program...not one covered by taxpayers. The congressional concerns aren't about taxpayers...they are worried about those who make big money on the existing system.
