There is no quote forbidding preaching in streets. I think your friend was mentioning Matthew 6:5.

"And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward."

But this only mentions praying, not preaching. Hopefully this is what you were looking for. =)

One of the reasons this world is in the mess it is in right now is because very few people still obey this:

Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in ALL THE WORLD for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Mr 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into ALL THE WORLD, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Jesus said go out. Go into ALL THE WORLD and preach the gospel to them. The 'church' has convinced the world that they either must COME IN to them, or be lost. There has been so much against Christians witnessing publicly that many have become too intimated to do this. Therefore more and more people are ending up as atheists or other unbelievers, since they have not been witnessed to.

the early Church preached everywhere as Jesus told them to do. Philip converted a man riding in his chariot. Jesus preached in boats, in homes, by the sea shore and in mountains. The church today has about killed all of this and stopped up the flowing or the River of Life.

So instead of discouraging this, we should all encourage it and learn to do it ourselves. Rescue the perishing. Save the children. Witness to the world. This is the command of Jesus, not run to some church.

Uh.. no! Thats like saying Jesus and his apostles were wrong for preaching.

" while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house. 21 But I thoroughly bore witness both to Jews and to Greeks about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus." Acts 20:20,21

14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Matt. 24:14

Jesus, after being raised from the dead, said to his followers: “Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”—Matt. 28:19, 20.

There will be a witness to the entire earth and then the end will come.

I recall Jesus teaching not to go out in the street praying all loudly just to get attention, but I've never heard of anything in the Bible teaching against preaching.

Depends on what Bible your thinking of. Theres so many out there!

Nope. Those people are called Gideons and they do good things....there's nothing in the Bible against that. God encourages people to talk to other people about him.
