I also agree with the other two people Red Feathers is great and yes the ice is off and they have already stocked it. Red feathers is north of fort Collen's. And I have always done good there for trout. Estes park is also a good place but I have never done very well there. Another place is Bear lake reservoir and I have always done the best there although its not up in the mountains, but the fishing is great, again for trout and if you are lucky a wallies. and one more place gran lake but if you plan to camp bring warm clothes it get kinda cold up there. Best place hands down is Estes Lake by Estes Park. Its absolutely beautiful and very well stocked! Every trip you're almost sure to catch something.

Don't discount lakes closer to Denver.
